Amelia's kindness in Action Fund - uplifting the world one action at a time.

My Daughter Amelia came to me with a proposal whilst doing a school project on the amazon. She was concerned about the poor people living in Iquitos, Peru, and the surrounding villages in the area. Her idea was to create an awareness of how others live in the world, by creating a Google website, and using it to link to some fundraising for the less fortunate than herself.

Amelia's Aunty Dhyana has been living in Iquitos for the past six years, working the villages in and around Iquitos and Amelia connected with her to create a fundraiser that will help many of these people.

Tier 1

The original Christmas plan

The first 2000USD will provide every family in this part of the village a gift pack for Christmas day - a mix of celebration food like panettone, lollies (which replaces christmas cake and pudding here in Peru) and Inca cola (not coca cola haha) but also household needs like

toilet paper,

Clothes cleaner

Soap

rice and pasta

cooking oil

biscuits

All presented in a big plastic bucket that can be used to was clothes, dishes and small children.

On top of this there will be a 30soles voucher to the local bodega to buy foods in the weeks after christmas. This supports both the families and the businesses involved in the bodega.

Tier 2

Once that is acheived the next 4000USD will go to individual gifts for each child in the village.

We will find the age brackets of all the children based on girl or boy and we will purchase individual gifts and or clothing to be given out on Christmas eve at their community christmas shared meal and celebration. (which I will explain in the explanation video and write up on the site)

They will be so excited.

Tier 3

The next 1500USD will go to feeding street dogs and supplying animal food to families who cant feed their animals very well.

There is a little boy in the village whose parents own a bodega.

When he couldnt go to school because of this covid stuff, they got him to start a business of his own in the shop. He chose to start bringing in cat and dog food and make it his business to supply pet needs to the village.

He began by accosting (just verbally calling out haha) everyone who walked past with a dog, and finding out what they fed them, and when he found us, he started bringing in to the shop the food we wanted to feed our adopted street dog and rescued cat.

So I thought we could profile him and get him to be a part of the fundraiser and we buy the dogfood from him and he helps pack it up for families, and feed the street animals over christmas....

Tier 4

All things going miraculously - the next 6000USD will go to creating a community garden of fruit trees, some veggies and herbs. It will pay for the plants, soil and materials needed to prepare the ground for plants, but very importantly, will also pay the wages of a gardener to maintain it for the next 6-12 months as it gets established.

He will be a local villager, and will get others involved in the upkeep.

Teaching children about growing their own food maybe....

The village is a dustbowl of clay and sand, and a garden will provide not only fruit and food, but a beautiful place to be and some lovely green shade spots to sit in (a must here - the sun is super hot)

Tier 5

So if things rock and roll, the next 2000USD will build a rotunda/ roofed meeting place to sit under when it is raining, have community gatherings under or just meet friends.

The rainy season is 4 months long and a space to sit outside and gather will get villagers out of their dark houses and sharing space together. Also give the children somewhere dry to play when it is raining.
