Help a Filipino Housewife Recover from Stroke and COVID-19

Hi everyone!!

HELP NEEDED FOR A STROKE AND COVID-19 PATIENT IN THE PHILIPPINES.

I am Maria Teresa B. Galera, a Filipino citizen, and I am helping my friend, Dyan C. Francisco raise funds for her mom, Ma Ana Francisco. who was taken to the hospital yesterday, 13 April 2021, for a stroke and later on finding out that she is positive for COVID-19.

Right now, the family is raising funds for her hospitalization in St. Luke's Medical Center, the only hospital that would take them in after 18 hours of running in circles finding a hospital that would have a bed and available medical care in this pandemic.

The hospital quoted that they would need to pay AT LEAST 1 million pesos in hospital fees. My friend's family has no way of obtaining this amount without knocking on your hearts for aid.

The pressure to provide for the entire family is on Dyan, including this insurmountable amount.

Dyan is only 26 years old, and is a freelancer whose earnings are not that great. She did save up for emergencies but all of her savings were wiped away by the hospital IN ONE DAY.

The Philippines has no Universal Health Care program despite having the Universal Health Care Act, and the burden of medical needs lies on the citizens to provide for themselves or ask others for help.

In this pandemic, the healthcare system of the Philippines cannot handle the surge of COVID cases at all, with many people dying outside hospitals, without receiving any medical care. Some people die in their cars, in their own houses, and some people, to have a fighting chance at surviving, go out of Metro Manila to the provinces to receive medical care there.

Dyan and her family are very lucky to be receiving any medical care at all, and it is now up to you and me to help.
