Overview

TeaCat is a new style store that will provide 100% vegan products. The store’s main products will be, bulk dry foods, spices, teas, and eco-friendly house goods.

TeaCat also will strive to be a community based store; hosting family activities, environmental cleaning events, and educational classes on mental/physical health and the vegan lifestyle.

Goals

1. For your health:

Our company will be a new and much needed store to bring healthy, affordable, vegan foods to the community.

Our company will provide each customer information on how to cook and select foods that benefit their individual diets.

Everyone, both young and old, deserves the chance to eat the healthiest food available!

1. For the animals:

Over 70 billion animals are killed for meat in grocery stores every year. Our goal is to educate people on saving, caring, and advocating for all animals—not only pets. Going vegan is just the first step!

The care of our planet's beautiful and unique animals is the driving force behind TeaCat's business model.

1. For the environment

Along with animal welfare, the natural environment desperately needs human conservation. With plastic waste on the rise, global warming looming over us, and loss of ocean life and forests, we as a species need to do our part!

Our company wishes to provide recycling for customers, local clean-up activities and educational classes on reducing single use plastics.

Every step towards a clean environment is a step in the right direction!

1. A safe place for all:

As members and supporters of the LGBTQ+ community, we understand how isolating an individual can feel in a non-supportive world. We are here for you! And not just the LGBTQ+ community, but anyone who is unique! From physical to mental health, we wish to provide support, compassion, and comfort to everyone!

Our company location will be a designated safe-zone to anyone who feels bullied or isolated.

TeaCat will provide supportive books, pamphlets, and information on local support groups for all ages!

What we need funding for:

Starting a business is no easy task. With your donations TeaCat will be able to afford the initial costs of inventory, utilities, rent, staffing, and educational products.

About the founder:

Bry Higa-Field and their partner currently live a quiet life on the island of Okinawa. They live with their 4 local rescue kittens, Nomi, Charlie, BC, and Cream.

Bry was originally born and raised in Pennsylvania on a fruit and vegetable farm. After meeting a Japanese teacher in middle school, Bry decided to leave the US to experience Japan.

They arrived with the help of friends and family to Japan in late 2018—studying as a japanese language student. Just a year later they married their Okinawan partner, Shota.

Bry started their vegan journey in their 20s after becoming lactose intolerant. They became fully vegan in 2019 due to health issues. After realizing the benefits of going vegan they began educating family and friends on vegan topics.

Noticing a lack of vegan goods in Japan, Bry realized they had to do something for the community. Thus, the idea of TeaCat was born.

Bry is currently working towards a certificate as a vegan health coach, and starting the TeaCat vegan health store.
