Campaign Story
Dear colleagues and friends,
My country Croatia, or more specifically my home town Sisak and surrounding area were struck by a major earthquakes, being ones of the strongest earthquakes recorded in Central Europe. On 28th December the area was struck by an earthquake measuring 5.2 on a Richter scale, followed by an even stronger one measuring 6.4 on 29th December.
Whole area has been badly damaged and devastated. Many homes are completely destroyed and some families were forced out of their homes due to severe damage. The county itself is one of the biggest in Croatia and due to earthquakes it's left basically without hospitals as only a very small part of the hospital in Sisak is usable.....the rest is completely destroyed.
The area suffered through a war in 90s and has never recovered completely, whoch led to it being one of the poorest counties in Croatia even before the earthquakes.
Sisak is one of the oldest cities in Europe, with almost 3000 years rich history. It survived through many difficult times, winning many battles, so I strongly believe that it will rise again, together with surrounding area. With proper help, it will continue to carry its nickname - 'The City of Victories'.
The goal is to directly help the families who suffered the most. At the moment, there is enough food and basic supplies, however the biggest challenge is to help in a long run, by rebuilding the area, which is the goal of the campaign. After the campaign, the money will be invested in rebuilding family homes of those most in need. We would like to help as many people as possible, but it will depend directly on the total amount raised by the campaign. We are still looking into the best way to invest the funds as it is not so easy to decide and organise everything within only a few days, but we will keep you updated. All the investments will be transparent and documented and I will do my best to update you regularly.

With your generous help, we managed to raise quite a lot, but not enough to fund the whole house for somebody by ourselves.. . . . .
