Special Needs…always my calling

Thanks to IVHQ (International Volunteer HQ), I have the opportunity of a lifetime to travel abroad and volunteer in the beautiful country of Costa Rica working at a day care center for special needs children. Anybody who knows me knows that I fell in love with special needs in the 6th grade and have integrated it in my life since. I've been offered an opportunity to explore Costa Rica and it's cultures, experiencing what it's like to live with a local family sharing their customs, cuisine and every day life. Awareness of special needs education in Costa Rica is starting to grow, they are pioneering teams across the country to provide care to children with special needs and I want to be a part of it. I want to spend the second half of my life giving back, especially for those who need it most. I've been told I truly have a gift for it, but it's just something that comes natural to me and always has. It sparks joy in my life and love in my heart.

I lost my mom in March, and while it's been difficult, I feel it's imperative to find a positive in every situation. I may have lost my confidante and best friend, but I did gain a spiritual awakening. I am taking the biggest leap of faith and venturing forward on my spiritual journey that I know in my heart she is paving the way. She always knew I had an innate ability to accept people for who they are and a desire for helping others.

After losing my mom, my job, leaving my relationship, and almost losing my mind lol I'm following my heart and intuition to live my life to the absolute fullest. I'm leaving all the materialism and chaos city living brings behind in order to fulfill my life purpose and soul mission. I'm starting over, a new beginning. First stop San Jose, Costa Rica. Words cannot describe how excited I am for this wonderful journey I'm about to embark on and would humbly appreciate any support that I may be blessed with along the way. The funds will go towards my volunteering, program fees, airfare, and everything involved with traveling abroad. I'm not one to ask for help so this isn't easy for me.
