Campaign Story
We bring to your attention the plight of millions of those living in the informal settlements (slums) of Nairobi who, as a result of the COVID-19 crisis are out of work and are in a desperate need of food.
Those most vulnerable are single parent families, and those unable to support the sick and infirm. The Jonathan Jackson Foundation / Nairobi City Stars in partnership with other NGO's and the slum youth groups are currently distributing food, water and sanitary products to selected needy families. We are reaching out to ask for help with money, food or other necessary products to stabilise this emergency need.
ABOUT JJF:
Jonathan Jackson Foundation (JJF) is a non-profit organization, aiming to help marginalized and vulnerable people within the Nairobi, Kenya informal settlements/slums communities. Since early 2019 JJF has been creating income-generating opportunities for women and youth from informal economies in Nairobi and is also providing youth with access to sports facilities.
During the current COVID crisis we have decided to focus our main attention on the most urgent need: on food shortage and food distribution within the community. Starting March 2020 we are working on the JJF food relief initiative, supplying dry food boxes to the most vulnerable people who are already living on the edge of hardship and acute hunger. We also distribute sanitary products and disinfection materials to prevent further spread of COVID-19
The cost of one food basket is USD 18, which is enough to provide main food for the family of 5 people for about 10 days (3 meals a day). Thus every USD 18 contributed will help one family to sustain for at least 10 days during this hard times.
Area of coverage: Nairobi County informal settlements: Kibera, Mathare, Kibra, Kawangware, Dandora, Soweto, Mukuru.
Please help us to help more!
