Can you spare a 5’er for one second?

Have you got a $5'er in you pocket that can make a change in someones life to help build a better life?

Please understand I am not simply asking for a hand out. This is something that makes me feel uncomfortable. Just as you, I try and work as hard as possible and strive for a goal to achieve to build a better life and to find a way where I can pay it forward to help others. But when you look in the mirror and ask yourself, who would help you when you find yourself in a situation like this. We all hope that we will not be left alone out in this world when we hold out our hand in hopes that we can find the humanity in others to help us in a desperate time.

My story is not one that will bring tears to your eyes as I try and connect with you. This is a plea in hopes of achieving a dream and accomplishing a goal in life. My family did their best to provide me with an education that would allow me to have a brighter future than what most people have in my country. Like myself, many wish to find purpose and belonging in this world, to make a change, in hopes of giving back to those that are not in a position of being able to better themselves.

In the past years, I have worked towards trying to gain higher education and achieving a bachelor’s degree in counseling and psychology. In South Africa, there are so many that are not able to gain access to adequate mental health services to improve their lives. One of the most debilitating health issues in South African communities is that of mental health. My goal and dream is to work within these communities with the correct tools so that with the right help, people can find a way to deal with their issues. Such as substance dependency, depression, anxiety and PTSD so as to help prevent the biggest contributors that break down these communities, violence and domestic abuse.

I have been in China before the outbreak and since Covid-19 I have been left jobless. And I know there are so many out there in a similar situation. Unfortunately, unlike most governments that help their citizens. My government cannot assist me in any way.

My college won't allow me to continue my studies until I can settle the debt and make payments. I am asking that somewhere out there for only 750 people to please look in their hearts and find a way to see if they have in their pockets only $5 that can make a difference in someones life. So far I have had two wonderful people Chandra and Alex give the little they can. Now I ask you to please help.
