Campaign Story
The world witnessed Beirut decimated by the 3rd largest man-made explosion in the history of the world. Entire districts of Beirut have been destroyed.
At least 160 people are dead, 6000+ people are injured, many critically, Homes have been reduced to rubble - our entire infrastructure has collapsed and people have never been in more desperate need of the most basic essentials of life.
Ahla Fawda and its partners are working tirelessly in every way possible with a specific focus on the most vulnerable such as (but not only) - unemployed families, children, those with or supporting special needs, the elderly, the homeless, the mentally ill.
we are currently directing multiple operations across the districts that suffered the most damage :-
Clearing debris & rubble on the streets
Assessing and cataloging damage to property.
Clearing, repairing and restoring internal
Prioritising and expediting work for the most needy and vulnerable.
Co-ordinating building work to repair and restore homes that can be saved
Working with homeless families to assess their needs
Distributing clothing & bedding
Arranging Temporary shelter for the homeless
Distributing food-boxes to young families, the elderly and vulnerable
We continue to need food, clothing, shoes, blankets, bedding, temporary shelters - people need the most basic essentials to be able to survive.
We are taking donations and using this money to ensure the people in need receive this aid and support as a priority.
We are all on the ground every day in one capacity or another. Our volunteers are cleaning glass and debris from the streets, we have teams of Architects and engineers working builders to repair homes, we are distributing clothes and food-boxes. we are doing all we can.
Please do all you can to support us during these terrible dark times and pray for those poor souls that have lost their lives.
Lebanon needs You!
ABOUT AHLA FAWDA
Ahla Fawda is a Non-Governmental Organisation that undertakes humanitarian and social well-being initiatives to support the most needy families in Lebanon. We do not discriminate on race, nationality, religion or any other factors, we simply do whatever we can to help the most deprived families survive.
We have been established and very active since 2014 building a strong reputation for addressing the needs of the people at the most crucial times.
Since the disaster, the Ahla Fawda Team have been working across multiple operations, clearing the streets, assessing building damage, co-ordinating internal building repairs, distributing clothing, homeware, bedding, toys for children and distributing food.
We now have a depot to be able to receive and store supplies to ensure regular distributions and an ongoing community support system is being implemented.
Clean-up work continues, as does emergency remediation work to make homes as safe and lovable as possible. Our next phase will see structural and external repairs on buildings for the most needy and desperate communities.
