Milk and personal care for Baby Francis

Recently, while browsing through her social media, my mother saw a post about baby Francis and the struggle of their family to sustain his milk supply especially now with Covid-19.

Baby Francis was born with cerebral palsy (spastic quadriplegia) which causes stiffness on all of his limbs; myoclonic seizure disorder and bilateral congenital talipes equinovarus (clubfoot). Due to his condition, Francis underwent orthopedic surgery at a very young age. Now at age 4, baby Francis cannot talk and cannot do simple movements without help from his family. His father, a highschool graduate, works as a company technician earning only 11,000 pesos/month (220 US dollars/month) while his mother, an elementary graduate, is a housekeeper who takes care of Francis and his 2 other siblings, aged 13 and 8 years old. Their family live in a rented house in Taguig city. The mother, Mrs. Marietta, often accepts laundry on weekends to contribute to the family's income. However, due to the enhanced community quarantine imposed in all of Luzon that started last March 14, Mr. Federico, Francis' father was temporarily out of work. With the policy of no work, no pay, the family is now struggling to provide for their children, more so to provide for baby Francis' needs.

attached herewith are proofs of his medical records and current situation (with approval from his mother). Also a heartfelt letter was given to us by his mother to sincerely asks for help.

Her mother is now opt to make do with so little just to provide baby Francis the nutrition he needs, like blending some cheap fruits and vegetable but it is not enough to meet his nutrient intake . On top of this, other expenses include baby Francis' seizure medication, diapers, and cleaning materials for his peg tube. Some generous people were able to chip in to aid with their expenses, but with the continuing lockdown and no regular work payment coming into the family, these help will surely run out.

Right now, the family is in need of Pediasure milk (as recommended by baby Francis' pedia to ensure his caloric intake), diapers, gauze and gloves to clean his peg tube, money to buy medications

(valproic acid and phenobarbital) and replacement of his peg tube (which need to be changed every 3 months). I know that his family is struggling but with limited resources and a bigger problem on hand, I do not think his case will be prioritized by our local government.

With this, I am humbly knocking in your heart and asking for your generosity to help Baby Francis and his family. Despite the doubts and struggle this time brings, I hope that we can still find ways to extend a helping hands to those in need. I am setting this funding campaign to ensure baby Francis' needs are met for the next 2 months for we do not know for how long will this enhanced quarantine will be imposed.
