Campaign Story
Due to the global COVID-19 pandemic, also Nepal is under strict lockdown. As one of the poorest countries in the world, Nepal's COVID response is heavily depending on outside support.
My dear friend Bal Krishna Maharjan advises and supports Rarahil Foundation, a community based organization
working in his hometown Kirtipur (southwest of Kathmandu, Nepal).
Rarahil
Foundation is responsible to support their community (more than 20.000 people) in COVID-19
response.
Therefore, funds for medical equipment are urgently needed!
Herewith, I
want to support him in rasing those urgently needed funds.
You are warmly invited
to do so too!
Concept Note on COVID-19 Response in Kirtipur, Nepal
"As the global pandemic, COVID-19 spreads at a rapid rate and positive cases are seen in Nepal, it’s an urgency to organize and save our community before it spreads at community level.
As Nepal steps ahead to fight with COVID19, all three governments systems plan and prepare to regulate the unavoidable risk of the disease. As funds are lacking, the government appeals every citizen and organization to join the fight against the virus. Every local level administration has to plan and prepare for the prevention, treatment and care.
In response to the present situation, Rarahil Foundation, a community based organisation, has proposed to support Kirtipur Municipality to effectively run a quarantine and isolation ward in community.
For the support of the government, and our beneficiaries community, Kirtipur Municipality in coordination with different stakeholders aims to support the healthcare system of the working area with the PPE and medical supplies. The proposed project is envisaged to achive the following objectives.
Objective
- To provide preliminary treatment facilities to local healthcare system in coordination with local government in order to prevent COVID-19 transmission at community level
- To provide personal protective equipment for the individuals who will be handling the cases in frontline
Beneficiaries
20,000 people in Kirtipur ( Indirectly 50,000 people)
Rationale of the Project
Due to global pandemic and resource constraint, there is lack of Personal Protection Equipments (PPE) and medical supplies for medical professions. The proposed project will contribute to purchase PPE and medical supplies in order to effectively contribute for prevention of COVID-19 in community.
Implementation of the Project
The proposed project will be implemented by Kirtipur Rural Municipality, Kirtipur in coordination with with Rarahil Foundation. Fund will be deposited in Emergency fund of Kirtipur Municipality and follow up of the project will be carried out by Rarahill Foundation, Kirtipur"
In Kirtipur, also 500 students from Tribhuvan University are
stranded due to the lockdown. The Municipality provides them with food
packages in order to survive those challenging times far away from their
families living in rural areas of Nepal.
