Campaign Story
What? Hunger in paradise… how could that be?
Right here in Boracay in the Philippines, Covid-19 is having a significant impact on the locals. To combat the spread of the virus, Boracay is under an "enhanced community quarantine" where everyone is confined to home with one designated family member allowed to leave the house for bare essentials only. All businesses except food and medical have been closed, transport has been stopped and there is a curfew from 8 PM till 5 AM each night.
For the wealthy this is no problem. Simply stock up with food and wait it out. Sadly, for most of the population this is not an option. These families live day to day, have no savings, and now have no source of income for food.
While local government is doing its best, they just don’t have the resources to meet everyone’s needs.
A small group of expats and tourists that didn’t get out fast enough have banded together to try assist where we can. We have distributed over 700 kg of rice, canned goods and vegetables in the last 10 days.
We want to be able to keep this up as well as extend it to meet some of the needs not currently being met by any other agencies (nappies, infant formula, sanitary products etc).
We still have a long way to go till the lock down ends on 30th April, so we would really appreciate your help to make this possible. Any donation received will go 100% towards buying goods to be distributed to those in need.
We are coordinating with local government and other local agencies to ensure we deliver goods to those most in need, so please be assured that any donations received will make a big difference to a family desperately in need.

Food distribution 17th April
Update posted by Matthew Weavers at 10:09 pmAs you may have noticed, we have been unable to rectify the issue we have with accepting credit cards. According to the card company, we tried to charge someones card when it had not been authorised by the card holder. Not sure how that is possible for us to do,. . . . .
