Campaign Story
A week ago I noticed that Angelo had been breathing quite heavy but being a cat I thought he had just been running around. A few days later I noticed that he was still indeed breathing quite rapidly so I rushed him to his vet.
The vet had done an ultrasound and had determined that he had a build-up of fluid in his abdomen and suspected that he had heart failure. I was faced with the decision to start treatment to try and reduce the fluid or consult a specialist for around R8000.
Knowing there was hope I had taken him to Fourways Vet Hospital where Angelo is currently admitted. They ran some tests on him, done X-rays and had determined that there was fluid in his chest that was collapsing his lung, they had drained the fluid and had suspected that he might have FIP also known as Feline Infectious Peritonitis which is ultimately fatal.
Upon further inspection and a more in-depth ultrasound, Dr. Ryan Friedlein had discovered that Angelo has a Hernia in his diaphragm also known as a diaphragmatic hernia which is causing his liver to be pushed into his chest cavity which is the cause of the fluid in his chest. Angelo has also suffered a twisted lung from the fluid build up in his chest.
The good news is they may be Hope but Angelo needs help. The initial bill of R8000 has been paid but the two surgeries that Angelo has to undergo are R30000 each.
Angelo is scheduled for surgery tomorrow and I have managed to loan the funds for the initial surgery but Angelo needs help.
A small donation of as little as R10 can help save Angelo's life.

Update 4
Update posted by Leonardo Pillay at 05:19 pmAngelo has had every possible test done, a biopsy of the liver and lymph nodes, 3 operations and yet the cause of the fluid build up is unknown. At this moment the doctors suspect pseudo Chylothorax as to the cause of the build up but it is uncertain as to

Update posted by Leonardo Pillay at 05:15 pmAfter having the second surgery done everything seemed to be going well the fluid had reduced in his chest and they had removed the chest drain. During this time the left lung had twisted again due to the fluid build up that suddenly started again. The surgery went well and
Update on Second Surgery
Update posted by Leonardo Pillay at 05:11 pmUpon waiting on the biopsy Angelo had to get the lung operation done due to the fact that the lung was dying off from being compressed by the fluid in his chest. During the surgery they had to remove half of his left lung and flush his chest
Update on First Surgery
Update posted by Leonardo Pillay at 11:18 amAngelo has had his first surgery to try and close the hernia in his diaphragm but the surgeon is still not sure what is causing the fluid build-up in his chest. They have inserted 2 drainage tubes in his chest to drain the excess fluid and have taken a biopsy
