Amoubi or Joseph as we knew him, helped my brother Ian, his family and some of his closest friends, for nearly 4 years and you could say became part of the family.

He was as good as they get, a man of few words, who would not shy away from any job he was asked to do and whoever worked by his side, immediately got to love the guy!

To those who hung out with him and worked with him, Joseph was not only humble and hard working but he was also a leader figure who helped as best he can and went out of the way to get a job done or help a friend out. His kindness was his weakness.

What one would see as a petty argument over food, got out of hand and his flatmate and supposedly good friend ended up taking his life, whether intentionally or not.

All he wanted to do, was to support his wife back in Nigeria, who was pregnant with their first child and as life would have it, gave birth to a baby boy a few hours after he was proclaimed dead. His wife's only wish and request is to help get her husband’s body back to his family in Nigeria and my brother is working hard to try and organise this.

Besides being an extremely complex process, especially given all that is happening around us right now, it is also a very costly process. Ian and some of his friends are already trying to put together a bulk of the financial aid needed, despite also having helped out Joseph and his family financially just prior to this horrible incident, therefore any financial assistance to make his family's wish come true, would be of great appreciation to all of us.

The Nigerian community and close friends of Joseph are also trying to gather some funds, yet we all know what challenges of their own, this community are already faced with.

Therefore I have set up this crowdfunding initiative to try help out as best as I can.

This is a hard time for all of us out there with Covid 19 happening, however I hope there is still space to understand this tragedy and help out in any way you can.

Take the time to read the article on the link below, to appreciate the real sadness of this tragedy !
