Hi there, world.

A very hopeful and peaceful Ophelia here. With the news of the Corona virus pandemic on the forefront a lot of normal things has been turned upside down and that has had a devastating impact on everyone especially small businesses. The call to support local business has been great, yet of very little significance and the various reasons therefore make absolute sense. Coffee equals socializing and communities coming together to share experiences and life and the call for social distancing has made this impossible.

We had to close Ophelia's doors on Tuesday indefinitely because our daily sales had nosedived significantly and we had to make drastic decisions to keep our expenses as low as possible. However; we still have bills to pay and staff to take care of and for that to happen we need your help. Even though we had operated for 2 weeks, we were able to make some money, but we need another R 70 000 to meet all our needs for March and the month thereafter; until we can hopefully open our doors again soon.

We know this is a lot to ask for, but we can't do this without you. Owning a small business in South Africa has had it's ups and downs, but we know for a fact that Ophelia has been a difference maker and we wish to continue to be one.

Thank you to everyone that has been part of our beautiful story and to you for spending your time reading this.

We leave you with this in light of these dark times: You are the light of the world. A town built on a hill cannot be hidden. Matt 5:14

Much love, Ophelia.

  • it was such a joy to watch your journey since Ophelia's door opened. Your love for Jesus, people, coffee and creativity poured into every aspect. Although I've never been able to visit, I hope the small contribution and the Lord's favor and mercy will help in letting her doors stay open so I could also have a one of a kind experience there one day too! You guys are awesome! Keep up the hope!
