Campaign Story
My name is Irene and I have recently been diagnosed with Myasthenia Gravis, an autoimmune disorder that attacks my neuromuscular juncture (the connection between the nerves and muscles). The diagnosis was followed by a week of hospitalization with 5 days of IV immunoglobulin infused as a means of rescue therapy for me. My condition would have been life threatening if I'd been just a few days late going to hospital. A chest CT scan also found a thymoma that needs to be removed once my condition stabilized.
I am a lover of Life and I believe in living life to its fullest potential, have been pretty healthy all my life and full of energy. I met the love of my life in 2016, got married in 2018, moved back to Malaysia and we have just welcome our first child in Oct 2019. The surprises of life had been sweet, and then MG happened. It threw our new family off balance.
My insurance only covers inpatient treatment and bulk of the maintenance is outpatient. The first round of hospitalization spent more than half of my yearly inpatient limit. I am hoping the remaining will be enough to cover my surgery cost. This campaign aim to raise money for my outpatient cost (estimated around MYR3k monthly). The medication I am being prescribed are very costly and we are not sure when will I get into a remission, hence the timeline is also uncertain. Every time I need to see the doctor also means my husband has to take time away from earning money. Hence, we'd like the help in raising enough funds for the outpatient medical bills and a little bit to support of little family.
It is my hope that the medication and change of lifestyle will help me to get into a remission soon and hopefully a forever remission. I want to get well because I want to raise my child, grow old with my husband and testify to the world that goodness and miracles are possible. Please help if you have the means and I really appreciate if you could share this with someone who may be keen to help.
You may notice that the currency is in NZD, that's because I am having some problem raising it in MYR due to the limitation of our country. My husband is from NZ, that is why NZD is the next most logical option.
If you prefer to support our online business as a means of helping us, please visit and share our store at Bountiful Potential, it's a baby print on demand store we started after the birth of our daughter.
I also blog at Fully Alive , do feel free to follow my blog for reflections I have written and also for sharing of my journey
Thank you and I wish you every blessing.

Update posted by PUI YING IRENE CHIA at 02:17 pmLast Wednesday at my neurologist office, he commented that I am now back to my superwoman status... with a weak point - the glaring sun. It was really great that my review went well with clinical improvement strength wise. I am still photosensitive to a certain extent and very happy. . . . .
3rd Review - Never Happier to Fail a Test!
Update posted by PUI YING IRENE CHIA at 01:56 amAt the last review, my blood sample was sent to test for Systemic Lupus Erythematosus (SLE) and connective tissue diseases due to the presence of anti nuclear antibody from a previous blood test. I was very delighted that all the antibodies tested comes back negative. What a glorious fail! My. . . . .
Second Review - Good Progress
Update posted by PUI YING IRENE CHIA at 06:54 amWe are currently in our 3rd phase of Movement Restriction Order (MRO) in the effort to control the spread of Covid-19 virus. With that still in place, I drove alone for my review yesterday. Thanks to the slow down in activity, everything went on really smoothly with very little waiting. . . . .
Major Breakthrough - I DROVE ALONE!
Update posted by PUI YING IRENE CHIA at 01:19 pmWith the Movement Restriction Order (MRO) in place, we are only allowed ONE person in a car unless it's an emergency. Last Saturday, a real need arise - I need to drive across the city to collect my daughter's breastmilk donation. We made the decision for me to go because. . . . .
