Wilbur Needs Your Help!

From Wilbur’s owner: Wilbur was given to me as a pup and he came from a very responsible breeder. All of the other dogs in the litter and the parents are healthy. Unfortunately Wilbur is an anomaly with all of his problems.

Wilbur had cleft palate surgery and his nose re-opened twice. He has also been treated for pneumonia five times. All the surgeries have cost me upwards of $7500. He cannot eat out of a bowl and has to sit at the dining room table with me for every meal and eats off a fork. He was also having issues with his skin, ear infections and more recently was diagnosed with an eye problem.

It was difficult for me to ask for help but I could no longer afford to pay for additional diagnostics and surgeries. Last year I was divorced and my ex got pretty much everything except Wilbur. Honestly all I really wanted was Wilbur. I have been doing pressure washing and carpentry work to bring in funds while I work on establishing a property maintenance business but it does not provide me with the funds needed to pay for Wilbur’s medical care.

I applied to Bandit’s BandAid and they arranged for Wilbur to work with an eye specialist to deal with a deep ulcer in his eye. It took a few months for his eye to heal and our plan was to address his ear next. However one of the vets treating Wilbur was concerned that he might have an issue with his heart, so that was the priority. I am happy to report that Wilbur’s visit with the Cardiologist went well and his EKG looked great!

We are now set to meet with a dermatology specialist to address Wilbur’s skin and ear infections. The next steps will then be to move forward with surgery for his ear, and addressing the problems he still has with his nose and throat.
