Hello everyone, my name is Jakub, I'm 35 years old and live in the Czech Republic.

Here is my story:

I really don't know what happened. I could not get any satisfactory explanation neither from my dentist, nor from various other doctors I have seen. The situation is as follows: almost 2 years ago, in summer, I suffered from a severe case of rare acute pancreatitis. Doctors couldn't explain where it came from, I had NOT drunk ANY alcohol, nor there were any gallstones involved. My case was therefore ruled as "idiopathic". I spent some time in the ICU in worst possible pain imaginable. When I finally got home, I had a 3 week course of antibiotics ahead of me. Once I finished the initial antibiotic treatment, I got some infection (unrelated to pancreatitis), with fevers spiking well over 39°C (102°F). Another course of antibiotics ensued. My teeth had already been in a bad shape. I had been visiting my dentist very frequently and trying to have fixed what I could. However, all the health problems above caused me to miss a lot of my appointments. And, the most urgent and pressing reason I'm actually even writing this - since that episode my teeth started decaying at an unbelievable speed. Rotting away. Disintegrating. Literally, in the truest sense of the word. Suddenly, simple fillings ceased to be enough, there is an urgent need for recapping many of my teeth and all the things involved with the process. Basically the only option to save at least some of the rest of my teeth at this point. And the faster the better. Even when brushing my teeth, sometimes I see a new crack or even a piece of tooth chipped away. Now, and I want to be very clear about this - my monetary situation has always been very poor, but one of the things I always invest in whenever I got the chance is my health - teeth included. I have been using a Philips Sonicare toothbrush, interdental brush, mouthwash, expensive toothpaste especially rich in Chlorhexidine (an antibacterial and antifungal compound especially suitable for problematic teeth and increased oral hygiene demands). I visited my dental hygienist and have been taught proper cleaning techniques, which I try following as rigorously as I can. Despite all this, everything I have done so far was to no avail. The picture is really worth a thousand words in this case. As the cost of maintaining my teeth increased, I am currently unable to finance it. I have no close friends or relatives who could help me. My money has always been tight as I was born with a birth defect called "Anorectal atresia". Had to undergo an emergency surgery hours after I was born and countless other surgeries when I was a kid. Alas, none of them really went through and as a result of the condition I was born with and all the surgeries, I suffer from fecal incontinence. To make things worse, Irritable Bowel Syndrome (diarrhoea predominant one) followed when I was about 20. Together, this is a hardly manageable condition, which ultimately led me to generalized anxiety disorder and various panic disorders, initial stresor most likely being several bad "incidents" on public. So I ended up being treated by a psychiatrist as well. Due to my overall health problems, I have ended up on disability payments due to inability to perform any work in public setting, so my only possibility to earn some extra money is through some minor home work (I have been an English teacher). However, even with the best possible extra income I could earn this way, I would end up nowhere near the amount of money I need. Moreover, time is another unfortunate ingredient I don't have. I can't afford to save up money for years, all my teeth will have been gone by then. And I'm only 35 years old. Due to my poor income, no bank would ever consider to loan me any money.
In closing, I imagine there are lots of much more worthy causes here. But this is virtually my last shot. Believe me, if there was any other way, I would not be writing this. Even writing the whole story makes me want to cry, because its as if I was reliving everything above mentioned at once. The estimated amount of money I need is about 30 000 CZK (I live in the Czech Republic), which totals about $1,500. Might be slightly more or less, depending on possible setbacks and complications, which may arise. Once my teeth have been fixed, any money possibly left over will be donated to a worthy charity.

Thank you all for at the very least hearing out my story. Any help you could offer will be much appreciated.

Best Regards,
with smile,

Jakub Konečný
