I have a number of rescue cats, all of whom I love deeply, but Oatmeal and I have an especially special bond. I raised his mom and siblings since birth, and Oatmeal is one of the most affectionate and lovable cat you will ever meet. He is the definition of a lapcat.

Two weeks ago, Oatmeal started wheezing. I took him to the vet, who diagnosed him with a common cough and flu. After about a week of medication, Oatmeal's cough improved, but I realised he was becoming more and more lethargic as time went by. He wouldn't eat or drink, and preferred to sleep through the day. He even turned away his favourite food - tuna.

When I brought him to the vet the next day, the tests came back positive for coronavirus and strong indicators of one of the things I was dreading to hear.

FIP.

I was absolutely heartbroken. Oatmeal is only 2 years old with the rest of his life ahead of him. Dry FIP is a death sentence for cats, but I am determined to fight for Oatmeal's chance at living as full a life as he can.

I am reaching out in hopes of raising enough funds to help Oatmeal fight this killer virus and once again enjoy his lap cuddles. Despite his diagnosis and sickness, he is a trooper; always ready with his motorboat purr and headbutts.

Any amount you can spare would be deeply appreciated. If you can't afford to donate, I would be equally grateful if you shared this page with others who can.

He's holding onto his fighting spirit, but I hope you keep him in your thoughts and prayers. I know he'd appreciate all the positive vibes he can get.

Thank you in advance and I hope all the good karma will come back your way one way or another one fine day!

  • Yo Raff I hope this helps even a little. I know times are tight and super stressful and I got plenty to go around. Keep your chin up, my bud, and know there are people out there who got your back. Love and Howdy from Texas!

Day 59!

Update posted by Maslin Roslan at 04:21 am

1) It's Day 59! 8 full weeks of medications since we started. I almost can't believe it.2) Covid-19 began as a small byline in the international news segment which bore little to no impact at first except in that we had to pause treatment while waiting for China to reopen. . . . .

Day 19!

Update posted by Maslin Roslan at 04:19 pm

I had doubts every day, but through a lot of anxiety, blood and tears, here we are at Day 19!1. I would like to take this opportunity to thank everyone who has donated - every dollars counts and deeply appreciated. I never thought a crowdfunding site for a sick cat. . . . .

  • Thanks so much, Nab! I’ve written you an email as well. Oatmeal is my super manja baby - he hates our vet run but he is very obedient and will do as I say. He is sleeping soundly now :) He gets heaps of treats that make the other cats jealous - haha. I know Dr. Vijay! He is hands down the best diagnostician - I use to always come to him for a second opinion as he always has a different POV. But Healing Hands is quite a distance from where I live so I go to Yee’s vet at SS2 who is extremely supportive of FIP cases (not all vets are, here). Thank you for your prayer - Amin.
