My Father vs. Lung Cancer

My father (Jose Chito Timbang) was diagnosed with stage 4 Lung Cancer last December 2019 and went through 4 sessions of radiotherapy to lessen the mass in his lungs before we start his chemotherapy, as this would help the medications flow better in his body. However, he couldn’t handle the effect of radiation in his body that’s why after his last check-up, he wasn’t able to go home due to shortness of breath and massive cough that he was experiencing. Hence, he got admitted in ICU (Intensive Care Unit) since January 18, 2020. The diagnosis was pneumonia and COPD (Chronic obstructive pulmonary disease) from which he had caught so easily due to his poor immune system from cancer, so as of now my father is battling with 3 diseases. Now, his right arm is badly swollen because the blood & water in his upper right body cannot flow well from the mass. Therefore, we haven’t started chemotherapy yet because of this unexpected incident, and sadly we have already spent all the money that was saved for his first few chemo sessions, and right now our hospital bill is still running. We were advised last January 26 that my father can be transferred already to a regular room because his status is getting better already, but unfortunately, he have suffered from LBM (Loose bowel movement) where traces of blood was found in his stool due to an irritation in his stomach. This has triggered the need for blood transfusion and made him stay in the ICU.

My father is 58 years old. He worked so hard as a post man to ensure that we’ll have a comfortable life and to ensure that my brother and I will be able to finish our studies. He is also a very good husband to my mother. When he retired from his job, he became a house husband doing chores at home, preparing food for us so that we have something to eat when we get home from work & school. Everything that he did is for us to be happy and feel loved. We cannot even think of a reason why this happened to him. We still have lots of things that we want him to experience.
