Campaign Story
On January 12, 2020, Taal Volcano woke up with a phreatic eruption that spewed ash to as far as Central Luzon. This was followed by earthquakes, fissures, and other volcanic activities that displaced thousands of families that live near the volcano.
These families have been evacuated to different centers and are now in dire need of supplies. Most of the evacuation centers are schools, local government offices, and basketball courts, which have little to no equipment and supplies to accommodate hundreds, sometimes thousands of evacuees.
Government and non-government organizations are already providing the needed assistance to these evacuees. Unfortunately, due to the amount of people and evacuation centers, the relief response hasn't been received by everyone yet.
This is why we decided to help in our own way. We set up this campaign to raise funds so that we can provide help to one of the centers in General Trias, Cavite. There are currently 73 families in the Baranggay Navarro evacuation center, and local officials are expecting more.
We went there for an ocular and to ask the volunteers what the evacuees needed the most: sleeping mats, blankets, pillows, diapers, hygiene and dignity kits, and ready-to-eat meals. We were able to collect donations of blankets, clothes, some canned food, and some cash. But these are not enough.
With your donations, we will be able purchase additional supplies, in addition to those we have collected already.
We will post regular updates, pictures of the receipts, supplies, cost breakdowns, etc.
As of this writing, Alert Level 4 is still in effect over Taal volcano.
