On December 10, 9PM Manila time, Richard Soliman, our colleague from the Global Security Team suffered a major heart attack at home. He was rushed to the hospital immediately by his wife, Czarina. By the time they reached the Emergency Room he was already unconscious and without pulse. It took several minutes for the doctors to revive him. Richard was soon transferred to the Coronary Care Unit (CCU). Angiogram showed that he needed three stents for his blocked arteries. Doctors were able to apply one stent but had to take him back to the CCU as his heart was too weak to sustain the procedure.

He was put on life-support system for several days to allow his heart and lungs to recover and fully function on their own. The first attempt to reduce his dependency on the system failed as heart still showed signs of weakness but Richard is a fighter. On, December 22, he was taken off the life support system and started showing stable vitals. However, his battle is not yet over. He remains sedated in the CCU and is scheduled for more procedures.

His medical bills were covered significantly by the company's health plan, however it is estimated that the cost for his continued care and recovery is about USD10,000 a day. Czarina is currently unemployed.

This funding campaign had been initiated by close friends of Richard's. Proceeds will go straight to the couple's account. Every donation, no matter what amount, large or small, will help reach our goal of supporting the couple's increasing medical bills and seeing Richard well and fully recovered. Will you consider helping Richard? He celebrates his birthday on December 29. And, please keep him in your prayers. He has a very tough battle ahead, but with your help and prayers, he will live to tell his story himself. Thank you and God Bless.
