Babette’s Fight with LEIOMYOSARCOMA Fund

Seeing my mother lying on bed experiencing the most excruciating pain I could ever imagine is a nightmare. The one whose hands once cared for me, for other people too (coz she was a nurse), taught me and comforted me are now weak and trembling because of her suffering. And, the fact that this is all happening right now, just 2 months after my father died, is already heartbreaking.This is too much for us to bear.

Last September 2019 after the interment of my father, my mother, VISITACION N SUAYAN, first noticed her veins on her sacral and thigh area became prominent and bluish. She assumed that this was just a result of her frequent sitting and stay in the lobby of the ICU where my father was hospitalized for more than 20 days.

It was last November 10, 2019 when she first complained of abdominal pain and bloatedness, which she thought was just a result of a food she recently ate. Her condition improved in two days.

Last November 19, she complained of extreme abdominal pain and added that she felt like fainting. She was brought to the ER of United Candelaria Doctors Hospital. She was further assessed and ordered to have Chest and Abdominal X-Ray. Later that night she was also scheduled for ABDOMINAL CT SCAN WITH CONTRAST and ordered to have 4 units of packed RBC for transfusion because her hemoglobin dropped to 8 g/dl. Pain relievers and antibiotics were given to her. The initial reading of the CT SCAN is Ruptured Myoma. She was then referred to an OB-Gyne, and was ordered to undergo transvaginal ultrasound. The procedure
showed presence of huge mass with a size of a newborn's head located in her uterus. November 22, TAHBSO or Total Abdominal Hysterectomy with Bilateral Salphingo-0opherectomy was done to remove the mass and the adjacent organs affected by it. After the procedure, the surgeon showed to us the removed tumor together with the ruptured uterus. The doctor also mentioned that based on the characteriatics of the specimen, there is a huge possibility that the mass is malignant. The result for the biopsy will be in two weeks, and the extent of the metastasis if present is still pending. Three more Packed RBCs were transfused to her. She's now currently recovering after the operation.We ask that you please include Momi in your prayers as she continues to fight to live through her illness.
