Campaign Story
The main focus for the charity is to deliver reforestation/afforestation projects engaging with local communities/schools and businesses to create a hands on approach and garner a sense of ownership in the projects, taking individuals out of the office or classroom to inspire them in the conservation arena. This case for support is aimed at a specific element of including Art alongside the environmental education the charity is intending to conduct in Hull and East Yorkshire via the One ‘Hull’ of a Forest project.
We have combined our approach to include environmental education to engage children in environmental issues taking pupils out of the classroom to develop the knowledge and understanding at a local level about their decisions and how they affect the global environment. A core element is to ensure that children develop a fundamental respect for the global environment whilst also encouraging a sense of individual and collective responsibility for the local environment in which they live.
At a local level multiple community groups, businesses and schools are engaged in our projects. The groups are engaged in physical activity, which has a significant health and wellbeing advantage coupled with links to a documented reduction in stress and mental health issues. Recent studies have also indicated that the close proximity to woodland areas has demonstrated noteworthy reductions in Anti Social behaviour (ASB) and knife related crime.
The benefactors of the charities’ activities are broad reaching as there is an overall reduction in greenhouse gas emissions from our reforestation/tree planting activities, meaning the global society benefits.
PATT stands for Plant A Tree Today.Hull is the UK’s least forested city. Our plan is, over time, to plant some hundreds of thousands of trees in the city.By doing so, we hope to:
- Remove carbons and particulates from the air, creating a cleaner, healthier environment for everybody.
- Create a fabulous environment, with new wildlife habitats, and a great place for leisure pursuits.
- Create health and wellbeing benefits that will lead to better mental health for residents, and impact on crime and anti-social behaviour.

The difference a tree can make!
Update posted by Andrew Steel at 12:09 pmIt’s as if humans were simply meant to live in harmony with trees. They enhance our lives in so many positive ways, and are a key factor in protecting the environment in which we live. On average, every tree we plant will absorb a little over 20kg of carbon dioxide each. . . . .

Trees can solve a multitude of problems
Update posted by Andrew Steel at 12:02 pmIt’s not hard to work out that trees are always connected in environmental issues. However, trees mean so much more to us.Trees impact upon our quality of life, on issues surrounding poverty alleviation and economical gains, on wellbeing, both physical and mental, as well as being linked to a positive reduction. . . . .
