Campaign Story
Hi Everyone,
From the 4th to the 12th of September 2019, I will be walking across Switzerland from the Italian Border (Griespass) to the border of France (Alsace), a total of 225 km in 9 days. I am doing this for 2 worthy causes: -
1). To raise money for Raleigh International; a sustainable development charity focusing on creating lasting global change through youth engagement.
Raleigh International's work is aligned with, and contributes to achieving, the United Nations Global Goals for Sustainable Development. Young people are vital to delivering these global goals. Raleigh volunteers are part of a worldwide movement to end poverty, protect the planet and ensure everyone has peace and prosperity by 2030.
In July 2020, my daughter Audrey (19) will participate in Raleigh Internationals expedition to Tanzania where she will work in local communities on several sustainable development projects. In rural areas of Tanzania, women and girls often bear the burden of collecting water, spending their time walking long distances to reach unsafe water sources, instead of attending school or making a living. Access to safe water and sanitation, along with good hygiene practice, is crucial to reducing disease and poverty, and ultimately saves lives. Every year, over two million people die because of unsafe water, sanitation and hygiene.
Your funding and sponsorship will go directly to Raleigh's organizational efforts in Tanzania and the other countries they are working in (not to Audrey's personal travel costs).
2). To raise money for Caritas, the Swiss based charity committed to working for the rights of all migrants, irrespective of their status, and for safe migration for all refugees fleeing war zones.
Caritas, prevents, combats and alleviates poverty worldwide in over 20 countries across 187 projects. Since 2012, Caritas Switzerland has provided emergency relief and long-term support in Syria, but also in the neighbouring countries of Jordan and Lebanon. After more than eight years of conflict in Syria, not only is the scale of the destruction immense, the economy is also on its knees. The living conditions of the civilian population remain unimaginably difficult. More than 11 million people have been forced to flee their homes, approximately half of them children.
The funds raised for this event will be split equally between both charities.
Your sponsorship will make my walk across Switzerland so much more meaningful. I thank you immensely for your support and encouragement.
David.

I think you're already back home by now, and safely I hope. A big congrats, that will have taken some grit, especially, in the low visibility moments in the Alps. Eek..
