Hello, good day to anyone who came by to see this humble campaign. I'll get right on to the story.

This is baby Giovanni Rafael, he was born on July 5, 2019, just a few days old. My sister went into labor at 3 AM, she arrived at the hospital nearing noon but due to the position of the baby and the umbilical chord around his neck, they had to perform an emergency c-section.

Emergency c-sections are very expensive but my sister and brother-in-law didn't mind the cost or that they had to borrow money to pay it off because they have been waiting for so long for their first child. When my sister got pregnant for the first time back in 2017, she sadly lost the baby at 6 weeks. She grieved deeply for that baby even until now.

So when Giovanni Rafael finally came into the world, healthy and whole, imagine her and her husband's joy. My sisters and I were overjoyed for them too. Ever since Yolanda in 2013 and after losing our house and our mother, our sibling bonds became stronger, so we feel each other's joy and pain as though it was our own.

(My sister's happy face after birth even though she just went through an emergency c-section.)

But two days later, July 7, 2019, that joy turned into pain, worry, anxiety, and uncertainty. Baby Rafa's color changed and he suddenly stopped breathing. He was brought back to the nursery and put on oxygen because he had trouble breathing on his own. My sister was so worried and blamed herself constantly even though she did nothing wrong. While Rafa was being treated, she constantly second guessed herself, wondering if maybe it was something she did or did not do.

She and her husband have been crying since yesterday, praying so hard for their baby to be okay. I am sitting here, watching helplessly, unable to do anything as they receive bills upon bills and grim news about Rafa. He had convulsions, he has an infection, he probably needs to get a CT scan, and who knows how many more tests.

My sister and her husband, instead of being happy parents, ready to bring home their baby today, are crying in the corner, wondering and worrying about their baby.

(A secret picture I took of the parents as they waited for news of Rafa's condition)

They have two main problems right now: the baby and money.

The baby is being taken care of by doctors and nurses, working together to find out what's wrong and to help him. I am praying very hard for baby Rafa and so are our friends and family, but mostly that is all we can do.

In the part of money, my sisters and I are years younger than my older sister and have no stable careers yet, so the family has turned to asking to relatives for money but it isn't going as well as they hoped, especially with this unexpected turn of events. So I decided to do all I can by creating this page and spreading the word.

Their estimated bill yesterday was at eighty-nine thousand plus (Php 89,000+) with philhealth already deducted, and still EXCLUDING the pedia care of the baby. So it's estimated to be around one hundred thousand plus (Php 100,000+) PLUS the CT scans, X-rays, more antibiotics, I shudder to think what their final bills are.

I only told my sister about this gogetfunding page only a day or two days after I made it, after receiving our first donation. I didn't want to get their hopes up in cases no donation comes in, so I pray and wish that someone, anyone donates, even a small amount. It could go a long way.

My brother went back to work because he needs the money now more than ever, my sister is at the nursery to see Rafa and is worrying about bills and her baby. I'm here right now in their hospital room, writing this on the spot and hoping from the bottom of my heart that whoever sees this might donate or even offer up prayers, or if you're not a religious person, even well wishes to our family and our nephew.

Please share this to anyone you think can help, please help us reach our goal. Please, just please.

Thank you so much.

When this whole campaign was first made, it was with despair and hope in my heart. I wasn't expeciting much, it was my first campaign, I could only advertise it by sharing the link, but I wanted to give hope to the worn faces of my sister and her husband.. . . . .

I'm sorry I haven't ben updating lately, life has gotten busy. It's been almost two months since baby Rafa got out of the hospital. He's had a lot of check ups since then and there was even a worrying moment about a problem with his heart. Thankfully, as long as. . . . .

Every amount, no matter how much we receive, is a big help. Your donations were the reason why the family was able to push through and do their best for their baby. Right now, they are struggling to pay their remaining balance to the hospital and to the people who

Baby Rafa's recent lumbar puncture test revealed that his current antibiotics aren't enough to combat his bacterial meningitis, so he has been given even stronger ones. Currently, his hospital stay has been extended.

The test results of the lumbar puncture procedure came out late last night. It's Bacterial Meningitis. According to my brother-in-law his sepsis is gone now and the doctor said the baby's on anti-convulsion meds. His vomit tube has been taken off now too.

Baby Rafa will undergo a lumbar puncture procedure. A lumbar puncture is needed to test the fluid around the brain and spinal cord. This test may be done to find out if a child has meningitis (a serious infection around the brain). Meningitis may be suspected in a baby with
