Supporting our soul sister, Sam!

Life happens, it is out of our control; sometimes it’s good, at times it is challenging and then for some it’s just plain hard, hopeless and tough.

Our Sam has walked a tough road in her life; lost her husband at the tender age of 24, and was left with their 2 year old son to look after. She was involved in a pedestrian accident in 2016 which set her back with medical bills, time off work and she was finally retrenched due to having to take time off work to recuperate.

In August 2018, after feeling unwell she went for a checkup and was diagnosed with stage 4 Colorectal cancer. Consequently it has metastasised to the liver and both lungs and now to the lymph nodes in the pelvis. In March of this year, Sam underwent a 60% liver resection, which was successful and lead to complication on c severe infection after surgery which has been an ongoing mission involving trips to and from Groote Schuur.

Between trying to live and pay medical bills she has exhausted all her funds and savings. Her children are not able to support her financially and located in different parts of the world, she has limited physical support. The daily stress of pain and the disease running rampant through her body has compounded the stress with additional living and medical expenses such as paying rent in shared accommodation and uber trips to and from the hospital. The main intention is to alleviate this stress for Sam to focus on her recovery a 100%.
