I just finished writing my first novel: Chronicles of Koiné, Vol. I: The Five Breeds. It's a novel from the genre Fiction & Fantasy. I gave the manuscript to 22 people, and all of them told me the idea is great and that it could become the next "Harry Potter / Lord of the Rings" phenomenon.

I published the novel's Spanish version already in the Kindle Direct Publishing (KDP) platform as an eBook and in its Paperback version, and translated it to English. Here's the link to the English version: https://www.amazon.com/dp/1096569922.

So, why am I requestig for funds if I have already published my novel? OK, here's the deal. Even though KDP is a great platform, a new novel from a novice writer like myself doesn't get enough exposure. Besides, the money from any sale of my book takes a long time to get to me (five to six months), due to their payment policies.

However, there's a much faster way to monetize my novel: I can request from Amazon what they call "Author's Paperback copies", which Amazon will sell me at printing cost (US$3.85), so I can take such printed copies to bookstores here in Costa Rica and "launch" my book. I would request Amazon to send me the books to Miami, to use a courier service called JetBox, which would bring by sea the books. Amazon would charge around US$1 per book of shipping costs, and JetBox would charge US$1.17 per book delivered to my country.

So, each book would cost US$6.02 to be brought here. I already contacted a bookstore group called "Librería Internacional", and they told me they are interested in selling my novel in all their stores. If I offer my book using the same price of Amazon (US$25), this would be the income flow: Librería Internacional charges 40%, which would leave US$14 for me, minus the US$6.02, it would mean US$8.98 per copy sold. But, in this case, the money would arrive much quicker and I would be able to keep writing.

I'm requesting US$1000 because that sum would allow me to bring 168 copies of my book, which would become around US$1,500, after the books are sold, which would allow me to keep bringing more books, until I can start taking some money for myself.

This novel is the first volume of a saga that would consist of two trilogies and a seventh book that I plan to convert into a videogame, too. I am dreaming big, I know, but it's the best way to dream, right? Can you help me make my dream come true? :)

Calculations update

Update posted by Alvaro Cubero at 04:34 am

Hello: I made an attempt to request the author copies from Amazon, and I realized they do charge shipping costs, because the weight of the shipment would be too high. So, the US$1,000 would allow me to bring 168 books, approximately. I would still be needing to deduct from that
