Masana village is situated along the foots of maragoli hills in Vihiga County, few kilometers to kakamega forest and also other tourism sites and destinations along lake victoria (one day excursion) making it ideal for tourism and other leisure activities such has mountain climbing , hiking , nature trailing and walks on maragoli hills.These area has a population of up to about 15000 or more people. Since 2002 the area has been characterized by perennial famine with the first which was nicknamed "Esaba Ilara" meaning wash your hands we eat". by the inhabitants. Due to poor farming practices and improper environmental conservation , there is high rise of mortality rate among st the youth living in Masana , some engaging in crime and criminal activities to sustain their families while others lose self-esteem due to factors like un-employment , lack of adequate education and opportunities. Help promote Tourism and farming in Masana project ought to solve the child labor problem in the area (children involved in stone mining tasks by parents instead of going to school) by at least 15 percent in the year 2023 and also offer employment opportunities to the locals and enable them improve their livelihoods.
At the moment the project has secured 1/2 acre parcel of land where it wants to construct a community "Open learning Environmental Conservation and Tourism promotion Ecco campsite" with the purpose of using the site to Accommodate guests who wold like to volunteer in community projects or have programs that they would like to share with the community or just visiting the area.Part of proceeds will be put in supporting Environmental conservation of the Angoya river and also the stunning maragoli hills which is just few meters away.
The first phase of the project is meant to create a picnic site with a common children playground.
Estimated budget cost for the first phase; Euros 10,000
Fencing : 450 Euros
Gates : 300 Euros 2 gates (entrance and exit)
Pit-latrines & washrooms : 600 Euros 4 latrines and washrooms
Water tanks : 1300 Euros 2 (10,000 litres) each cost 650 Euros
Euro: 400: 4 traditionally built huts for accommodation
Up-keep and maintenance : 550 Euros (gardening, security ,tree seedlings , flowers and landscaping)
Solar energy power panels : 1500 Euros 10 panels , energy saving batteries and installations.
Euros 200: 2 swings , one slide.
Euro 300 : 4 Gazebos for picnic
For everyone who is going to donate we will appreciate by including their names in the official project Donors board that will be displayed in our project office; and to whom will also be offered a VIP reception when visiting the project at any given time.

Hi!Ciao a tutti. Scusate per non aver communicato per tanto sull’progetto . Mi sono stato troppo impegnato con i miei studi, lavoro e la vita familiare. Pero’ tutto va bene ed ora sono in contatto con il capo lacale del villagio di Masana ed stiamo cercando un modo per creare una committato turisto . Tutto il progresso sara’ pubblicati nel questo sito a presto. Ed’ una buona notizia’ vero?
