Campaign Story
***DONATIONS ARE TAX DEDUCTIBLE***
Cal Quidditch, representing the University of California, was founded by a group of wide-eyed Harry Potter fanboys and fangirls in the fall of 2009. Our club competes in the fastest-growing, full contact, co-ed sport known as Quidditch. With regional, national, and international competitions, we take on teams such as Stanford, UCLA, UVA, Texas, Texas State, and many others.
Coming off back-to-back appearances in the Western Region finals, the Cal Quidditch team will head to Austin, Texas to compete in the US Quidditch National tournament. This year is the fourth consecutive year we've received a bid to nationals. With new leadership, raw talent, and the largest recruiting class we've ever had, we set out to defy all expectations. After a successful season, competing in five major tournaments in the western region, we are ready to compete with the best quidditch teams across the country.
Our primary goal since the beginning of the year was to qualify for this tournament. Starting in August with renewed energy, we trained three days a week--hitting the track and weight room, watching film, reviewing strategy, and getting laughed at and photographed while running around with brooms between our legs. Our team could not be more excited to see our efforts come to fruition.
Unfortunately, our brooms can't fly us to nationals, so we need your help to get there!
The National Tournament is a two-day tournament over the weekend of April 13-14 that requires many expenses. The school does not financially support our team, so it's on our individual players to pay for flights, hotels, food, and other travel expenses.
Sometimes, dreams cost a lot of money.
We want to see as many of our players represent the California Golden Bears as possible--regardless of their financial situation. If there is any way you could contribute to our cause, we would greatly appreciate it-- anything helps. A little of your magic can go a long way!
