Hello everyone! If you're reading this, it means that you are one of the many people who are and have been a part of my mom's life. And in case you haven't heard from her lately, she is currently in the hospital and had been going in and out of confinement since January.

To give you a brief background of her medical history, this all started when she was admitted to the hospital last July--a few weeks before her birthday. She was rushed to the hospital because she felt a stabbing pain in her backside. Apparently, her lungs were filled with water which made it hard for her to breathe and caused her pain whenever she moved. During the surgery, the doctors were able to aspirate more than 1.5L of water from her lungs.

By January, she felt a lump somewhere along her collarbone. They took a biopsy of the mass and thank God it was benign. After a week, her stomach started to bloat and it grew to 1 meter in a day. She was admitted again that same day because she was feeling weak, she can't eat, and she felt like her stomach was going to burst. It turned out that her colon and her ovary were adjacent to each other and they weren't able to figure out if the bloating was coming from her ovary or her colon. She was advised to go to PGH for endoscopy and colonoscopy procedures so she can have it at a lower cost.

Since then, in the week that she ad been having her lab works at PGH, several complications have been found such as cysts in her ovaries, water in her abdomen, and enlargement of the heart. About two weeks ago, she started to have difficulty in breathing again and pain somewhere in her abdomen when she moved. So she was advised by her Oncologist to go to PGH to be admitted again. There was water in her abdomen and they were able to aspirate 1.6L of it. She felt better that day, but began feeling weak again the following day with the same symptom--difficulty in breathing. The doctors said it was no longer water that was causing her pain but something else. Which they still can't address.

After she was released from PGH on the 4th of March, in addition to pain in her movements and difficulty in breathing, she also has edema and had constantly been feeling cold. She was scheduled for colonoscopy and endoscopy on March 6th but when the procedure was to be done, she was advised that they can't do the procedure on her due to her difficulty in breathing. She is now once again admitted without proper diagnosis. We still don't know what is wrong with her.

She doesn't have health insurance and she has not been able to work since January due to her condition. She is surviving financially through the grace of God and the kindness of friends and love of her family. But her resources have run out due to treatments, hospital admission, continuous medicines, and daily expenses.

Treatments and labs are estimated to run to at least Php 250,000 plus medicines and other related expenses. Please help us help her meet her financial obligations.

We’re deeply grateful for your generous donations. Thank you so much from the bottom of our hearts!

PS. We will update this post with her status and final diagnosis.

High Grade Ovarian Cancer – Stage 3

Update posted by Glory Mae Flores at 01:25 pm

This is the final diagnosis and the result of the biopsy done on the mass/cysts found on Mama’s ovaries. She’s recommended to undergo chemotherapy by next week because high grade means that the cancer cells tend to grow more quickly and are more likely to spread than the low-grade cancer. . . . .

Update posted by Glory Mae Flores at 02:00 pm

She had her EKG earlier today. The doctor's found that there's water in her heart and lungs. She was asked to sign a waiver that says her estimated hospitalization expense is Php100k.
