Battle for Life: Gem’s Worth

A public servant with a golden heart. a compassionate teacher with a good soul that is how colleagues, friends and students would describe her.

Her name is Gemmalyn Sianda, 45 years of age and is a high school teacher by profession. She gains happiness in teaching to those with less access to education. She has such a fiery passion for educating that she so as would cross the thin line between being an educator and a second mother to students who are less privileged. She loves cooking for and feeding the children, at times she helps them financially and even offer them a place to stay just to make sure they don't drop out of school.

She is my mom and she was diagnosed with breast CA stage 3C 5 years ago and now, it has recurred and metastasized in her brain and also in some of her bone. She finished another round of radiation last December, intrathecal chemotherapy in January and is now undergoing bone treatment which costs 35,000 php for every injection (every 28 days). In addition, she takes a daily chemo/hormonal pill which costs 450php per piece on top of another injection paired with the pill to induce menopausal. my mom's cost of treatment each month is 60,000 php not including the travel and lodging expenses as we live in Davao del Norte province, away from the city.

This wonderful person is now in need of your help financially, my mom's life is on the line and as i am still a student who is currently in her last year of college, this is the only way i can help her aside from the emotional and physical support i give her. I am an only child and her only joy is to see me graduate and do well in life knowing she has fulfilled her top priority as a mother.

Please help me make her dreams come true of seeing me in a toga with a diploma in hand and a college degree as this is her only wish.
