Campaign Story
I am Rodia Jane A. Niere. I am from Cebu City, Philippines and I have created this campaign to help my friend, Vincent Lee Flores.
Vincent and I have been colleagues for 4 years now and we have developed a sense of belongingness and accountability within the whole team, thus, treating each team member a family.
Vincent Lee is a hardworking father. He has been taking care of his 2 year old daughter and partner all by himself. Aside from his regular job, he's also doing some other side job in order to sustain his family's daily needs. He has made numerous sacrifices to make ends meet to the extent of becoming unaware already of the risks it may affect his health.
He is a hobbyist photographer, explorer, programmer, tech savvy person. The team is a firsthand witness of his passion and dedication to his craft. He has big dreams for himself and for his family. We believe that by overcoming this battle, Vincent is way more capable of doing so much more.
Right now he is battling a very rare disease:
He has been diagnosed last Saturday, January 19, 2019, with Guillain-Barré syndrome (GBS), a rare neurological disorder which causes progressive paralysis, starting from the feet and progressing up throughout the rest of the affected person's body (ascending paraplegia). It occurs when the body's immune system attacks the peripheral nerves in the body. Currently, Vincent is admitted at the ICU of Chong Hua Hospital, Cebu to monitor his recovery and his medication has been identified to be 108 thousand pesos per session and he needs 5 more sessions as of this writing. This does not include other charges/fees such as professional fees, laboratory fees, etc. As of today, his hospital bill already reached more than 400 thousand pesos (PHP). He needs to be administered with immunoglobulin for the succeeding sessions.
His family is deeply saddened by this incident and we would like to extend our sympathy and help as much as we can.
We need approximately at least 1 million pesos (PHP) for the mean time for his ongoing treatment.
Although he has a bit of money saved and have received some support from our relatives, unfortunately these are still not enough. We have already exhausted his health insurance.
We’re currently asking help from charitable institutions (hospital’s charity, Champ & PCSO) but time is very crucial given his condition. We do not know when and if it will be granted. We are still far from the target amount but through God’s will and your help, we will eventually reach this goal.
All donations will be directed to the account of Vincent's sister, Mabeth Faye Flores - Yeban.
We are knocking on your kind hearts for a little bit of financial support for my friend's treatment.
May God bless you a thousand fold.
For those who have Philippine bank accounts, we prefer that you wire your donations directly to these accounts below since GoGetFunding deducts a percentage of every donation.
