Campaign Story
Do you ever feel like you're on your own? Do you know someone who needs to be reminded that someone is thinking of them?
Our goal is to share little crochet hearts to spread the love with a simple message "You Are Not Alone".
This project started with RED January, a campaign set up by MIND to encourage people to Run Every Day in January to beat the blues.
I made a heart in 2018 for every kilometre I ran, then offered them to any of the Facebook group members who needed a reminder. I ended up sending out 150 hearts to different people all over the country.
In 2019 I wanted to share the love even further, so I offered out individual hearts again but also packs of 5 hearts for people to give out to friends / family or to leave out while running for others to find.
So far this year (2019) I've had requests for and sent out over 2,000 hearts!! These have gone all over the country, and even to Australia, France and America!
More requests come in every day, and there is now an Instagram following @takeheartxo to share the love further. "I" is now "We"... some amazing people have come forward offering their help in different ways, by making hearts, writing labels, donating wool and providing stamps.
To keep this going, we are now looking for funding so that between us we can continue to send out little bits of love where it's needed the most.
Any contribution will be gratefully received, whether it be to cover the cost of a stamp, a ball of wool or more.
