The story of Hay Nako Art Club

Hay Nako Art Club was founded on December 21, 2018, by law student Christian Katzmann from Denmark. While walking in the streets of Mandaue, Christian was confronted with the harsh reality of life for the indigent kids in the area. He witnessed children sleeping alone in dark alleys at night and looking for scraps of food in garbage bins smelling of rot after days in 35 degrees humid heat. Seeing the hardship of the children in the area made him appreciate the fortunate life he had been living in Europe – but it also made him realize the responsibility we all have as human beings to help one another. Therefore, he thought about how he could help, and came up with an plan: to create an initiative that would raise the skills and creative talents of the kids in the area, as to give them important professional tools for a brighter future.

In 15 years from now, most manual jobs will be taken by artificial intelligence software and other automations. Most good jobs in the future will rely on innovative minds. Therefore, it is of the utmost importance to invest in creativity and art now, so that these kids can grow up and become successful front runners in the world of tomorrow.

This idea is now a reality, and we hope that everyone will support the new art school initiative - Hay Nako Art Club -, either through donations, prayers or encouragement for the kids.

Hay Nako Art Club hope to strengthen the community of Mandaue, and hopefully bring the project to other places in the future. We believe that kids are the key to a better future, and our vision is therefore just as ambitious as the project itself: to bring opportunities, prosperity and success to everyone, by investing in the talents of children through art.
