My Dad has always been my hero ❤️
He was a soldier fighting the war in Rhodesia (now Zimbabwe) and when I was born he took leave from the army to be a stay at home parent whilst my Mom went to work!
He is an amazing, caring and devoted grandfather to our 3 boys and is also the youngest of their grandparents.

At a young 69, he has just been diagnosed with late stage COPD.
COPD is the abbreviation for chronic obstructive pulmonary disease. COPD is a lung disease that results from obstructions in the airways of the lungs that lead to breathing problems. Damage to the lung tissue leads to coughing to remove the thick mucus and eventually, difficulty in breathing

My dad is in the advanced stage of COPD which means that he is reliant on oxygen therapy 24/7. He will also need constant antibiotics, inhalers and and flu vaccines to keep infections to a minimum, as they are life threatening to COPD patients
Whilst there is no cure for COPD, certain treatments can ease symptoms and improve quality of life. One of these is a mobile oxygen unit that comes with a large price tag of around R45000.00. I have managed to source a second hand one for R20000.00

This would help Dad be independent to a degree as the unit is very light, transports in a bag that straps over the shoulder and comes with spare batteries for when there is no power - a stark reality in South Africa.
It will mean he can continue to work as a barman at the MOTHS bar (The Memorable Order of Tin Hats was founded in 1927 by Charles Evenden as a brotherhood of South African former front-line soldiers) - he loves the camaraderie of the job and most importantly it gives him meaning and purpose.

Anyome that knows either of my parents, know how much they do for others - always helping people no matter how little they have. Now they need OUR help!

Please help me help my Dad ❤️

Any donation no matter how small will be very much appreciated
Thank you so much!
