The Music

This fourth album is a little bit different from the previous ones.

This time, all aspects have been taken care of by us and it speaks about a concept inspired on "The Endless", characters created by Neil Gaiman for the comic book "The Sandman". About the sound, it's definitely more aggressive and full of different shades and feelings. It will bring you through a hurricane of sensations and it will seem like you’ve lived something real. Enjoy the trip.

Artwork

This year we wanted a different artwork. Something new, fresh and most of all "immediate". This year as well we gave this hard job to Simona Speedy Saccoccia! The artwork is the third way of taking the hand of the listeners and going along with them through the story.

We also wanted to make the visual imagery more about the music, increase the perceptions, and the visual representation of the songs.

This artwork completes our vision of taking you on a real journey.

Thanks to the talent of designer Simona Speedy Saccoccia, we were able to make this idea, this vision, possible. I hope you like it. :)

Concept

The concept for this album is inspired on "The 7 Endless", characters created by Neil Gaiman.

Many people have talked about the seven deadly sins, but nobody has taken inspiration from the seven endless. In this case, Angela, a comic book aficionado, proposed to the other bandmates the idea of basing this album on this concept and challenged herself to write it.

But who are the 7 Endless? They are...Dream, Death, Destiny, Desire, Destruction, Delirium and Desperation. All these entities are tied tightly with human beings.

History

At the end of last year, we started to write new stuff for our fourth album.

Everything came from the idea of writing a concept album and Angela proposed the idea of writing something about the 7 Endless. So Angela started to write down a plan of how the story could go ahead involving the 7 endless and just how much it would possible to include them in the story.

Now usually, when a melody popped into her head, she would give it to Andy.

From this stuff, Andy starts to write the arrangements adding some instrumental riffs that he gives to Angela so she can create other melodies over it and so on. The writing process of this album took longer than on the previous ones. We started in advance and we tried to take care of every detail.

This time the album has a heavier sound...

Obviously Nicola and Michele gave great support to the rhythmic sessions. Generally every step and aspect is shared between us.

Musicians On This Album

Angela Di Vincenzo – Vocals

Location: Italy, Rome

I write most of my melodies very spontaneously and so as not to forget them, they end up on my phone immediately. About the lyrics, generally I listen to a melody and a song, and then I know what it will talk about.

This time it was the opposite because we decided about the 7 Endless before I started writing. Anyway, when I had all the melodies ready, I decided which song had to speak about what and then, I gave an order to them.

I’m very proud of this album and of everything that it encompasses.

Andy Menario - guitar and keyboards

Location: Italy, Rome

Everytime I have to write a new album I have a different approach. There's no law for it. This time, it has been really cool to work on this new album. We had a lot of conversations and exchanges with the other guys about rhythmics, arrangements, and direction. I can say I'm really happy with the final result. It rocks! I love the metal attitude of the sound, the rhythmics sections, the melodies and choruses. I'm really proud of this release. You can say, at the same time, "Hey it sound really metal!" or " Hey, it seems a bit symphonic!", again "Hey, it's very melodic!"...yes, it's true, this is our trademark!

Nicola Corrente - drums

Location: Italy, Rome

This is the first real Secret Rule album I have worked on since the pre-production and arrangement sessions as far as rhythmic and drum parts are concerned. We had a lot of fun with the others in finding different rhythmic solutions from the previous albums but most of all in (having/creating) a heavier attitude through more sophisticated and modern grooves.

Personally I enjoyed it a lot, it was long but detailed and stimulating work, I cannot wait to bring the new songs on stage next year!

Michele Raspanti - bass

Location: Italy, Rome

When I have to play a new Secret Rule album, I'm always very excited. It always includes new elements compared to the previous ones and this aspect stimulates me to work on it with enthusiasm. I think this album sounds heavier and I love it!

I had fun finding the right solutions with my bass. I really hope you'll enjoy it!

Christopher Burelli, sound engineer and guitarist. He gave us precious technical help on sounds, and he's our sound-guy for live gigs.

Andrea Ciccomartino, singer and label manager. He sang as special guest on "Dream" song.

Gabrielle Chiararo, singer and actress, she put her voice at the end of “The Endless” and she’s the Desire Voice on the “Desire” song.

Behind the Scenes & Budget

Financially speaking, the budget to cover the whole project is not a joke.

We're not speaking just about album production but also about all the side things a serious project needs.

We have to cover all costs of printing the album, of the merchandise, of all our music videos, of the artwork for the album, of the photo shoots and so on.

And in every area, a problem always pops up! LOL

We all have full time jobs, so you can understand that we have to do everything in our free time and holidays. And we have to have a job otherwise we wouldn't have money to invest in Secret Rule.

So, we are not asking you for money to produce our album, but if you like our music, we ask you to believe in this project and to support it by taking your perk on this crowdfunding and sharing this project with your friends.

We invested a lot of money in the previous years because it's always difficult to launch something new, and if we're here, it's also and most of all thanks to your support and love!
