I am Amanda Aguila- Limcuando, mother of a baby warrior Joaquin Rocco Aguila Limcuando.

Me and my husband were trying to conceive for almost 3 years already but when we least expected, I got pregnant last Mar 2018. That was the greatest news we have ever received that time. But my pregnancy journey was not easy. I was on bedrest for a month during my First trimester due to sub chorionic hemorrhage. I wasn't allowed by my doctor to work strenuously due to threatened abortion.

And then came my 6th month (September) , when I experienced severe swelling of feet and legs. Though other people were saying that it was too early for me to experience swelling, I didn't mind it and thought it was just normal. Until I texted my doctor last Sept.28 about the swelling , she immediately requested me to check my BP and have a urinalysis. On the day of my check-up last Oct. 6, my BP was 150/100, which was the highest since I never had high BP since I got pregnant. She wanted to confine me however my husband was confined as well in the hospital due to gall stones removal. She then requested for steroids shot, gave oral medications and BP monitoring from time to time.

On Oct. 7, I was supposed to go home alone and prepare the house since my husband will be discharged already the day after however I believe God told me to stay in the hospital since that night I felt some pain at the back and when the nurse checked my BP, it was 170/100, I immediately rushed myself to the ER of the hospital and when my OB learned what happened, I was immediately admitted (Same day when my husband was discharged) .

For a week of my confinement, I was given medications to control my BP. I had an IV of Nicardipine, blood testings and injections of Magnesium Sulfate (which was very painful). The doctors also monitored my baby every other day thru BPS. My BP went down to 130-140/100, however when they tried oral meds, my BP shoot up again to 150-160/100. In contrary to the situation of my baby, he was doing well during the ultrasound.

Then came Oct.15, when I was just scheduled for an ultrasound that morning. They requested me to proceed to the delivery room (9:00AM). My doctor then said, "this is the day" I had to undergo an emergency CS that morning since my platelets were extremely low already (70 +). They need to operate me immediately to save me and the baby since I was experiencing severe eclampsia already. After that, everything went fast. All I can remember was the doctor waking me up saying, "Isabel, wake up! The baby is fine".

And then there's our Baby Joaquin born last Oct. 15, 2018. A premature baby, 29 weeks weighing only 0.93kg. He is now in NICU, inside the incubator and intubated to assist him in breathing. The first time I visited him was a total emotional day for me. It was the most painful day for me seeing my small baby enduring the pain of tubes outside my tummy. However, I know God chose me to experience a miracle to happen and now I am feeling more positive that baby Joaquin will be a survivor.

While my baby is fighting everyday in NICU, I would like to knock on your kind hearts and doors for some financial assistance to fund my baby's stay in NICU. While we are very positive that Baby Joaquin will get through this challenge, your assistance will be a big instrument for our baby's survival in each day that he fights for his life in NICU.

I know that at this time, money could be very tight so please know that even the smallest amount can help us fight for Baby Joaquin's life. We would greatly appreciate it also if you can give a little time to share this to your friends, family and other networks.

Update posted by Amanda Limcuando at 05:39 am

Our little angel is now 1 month old. Saying goodbye to someone was never easy especially if that someone is your child. Until now there are still questions left unanswered, why all these things have to happen. But I guess God has his ways which are not our ways. You. . . . .

The past week was very hard for us, since our baby was diagnosed with sepsis (serratia infection), NEC ( bleeding of stomach, which stopped his milk feeding), and heart murmur. His platelets went down again and needed transfusion. Since our baby's blood type is AB positive, there were times that. . . . .

Today marks Baby Joaquin's one week birthday. But just this morning, around 12:30 am, we got a call from the NICU doctor informing me that they need to have a platelet transfusion since Baby's platelet went down. They needed to ask for a verbal consent to proceed with the procedure.. . . . .
