32910142_1536766313797962_r.jpegMy nephew Baby Gabz had seizure disorder since birth which was later on diagnosed as Lennox Gastaut Syndrome. He is now 5 years old. He couldn't walk, talk and only gets food through NGT or tube feeding. almost every year he suffers from high risk pneumonia caused by aspiration which is common to cerebral palsy patients. but this time he is in critical condition since the dengue virus made his pneumonia more aggresive causing him to rely on a ventilator for breathing support. He was brought to a hospital at Malaybalay City, Bukidnon last Sept. 8, 2018 but was referred to an ICU in one of the hospitals in Cagayan de Oro City. He is currently sedated (for about 7-10 days) so he won't suffer so much on the medication. His 24-hour medication costs about 20,000 pesos (approx. $378) aside from the daily hospital charges. For the meantime, his main source of food is pediasure milk. His family really need help to sustain his daily medicines and the medical bills. @3:30am today, Sept. 13, his attending physician ordered for Gabe to undergo peritonial dialysis to drain off excess fluids from his body & also to remove toxins. They have been monitoring his urine output since yesterday but unfortunately he wasn't producing enough even after he was given diuretics. Accordingly, it is a sign that his kidneys are also affected as also manifested by bloating & his bulging stomach. He is now being co-managed by a nephrologist.

Update posted by Nivea Louwah Sermona at 12:44 am

Last sunday, we were confident that he was getting better after he responded well to the 2 new antibiotics started last saturday plus another one added yesterday. His platelet count continued to increase & his fever was kept at bay with highest temperature recorded @ 38.2°C in 24 hours. However,. . . . .
