The Pulau Ubin Cleanup team organises jungle cleanups every 4-6 weeks on Pulau Ubin, an island which is part of Singapore. Unlike beach cleanups, our cleanups happen in the forests, where lots of rubbish have been left for decades.

A lot of wildlife lives on this island including monkeys, chicken, birds, wild boars and monitor lizards. Lots of micro plastics and other rubbish do end up being mistaken for food by these animals and our main goal is to protect them by making this island as litter-free as possible. Another goal is to also raise awareness of the problem of littering during our cleanups, as there are lots of people walking and riding bicycles every day.

In order to do so, we want to place a few banners at strategic points on the island while doing our cleanups. A banner usually costs between 100 and 200 SGD depending on the size. We also want to provide our volunteers with equipment, e.g. litter picker tools, garbage bags and gloves. Gardening tools such as gardening scissors and shovels will also be helpful, as some of the heavy items or wires are sometimes difficult to be removed using only hands.

For more information about our cleanups, please visit our Facebook page:

Please help us to make Pulau Ubin a cleaner island and a better place for the wildlife.

Thank you very much.
