Campaign Story
Baby Jahara Alexi M. Perez was born last Friday, August 24, 2018. She seemed to be a very lively baby but her respiratory rate at the time was 70+ (normal range is from 40-60). There were still secretions so they thought that the high RR was caused by that. It was noticed, also, that Jahara had chest retractions (short breaths). When trying to feed her, she would cry and eventually turn blue. First occurrence was 7 hours after her birth. They performed an Xray and blood test to see if it was pneumonia. She was then transferred to Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU).
August 25 at around 1 am, on-duty nurse reported that Jahara turned blue twice and her respiratory rate reached 80+. She was still having chest retractions so they had to put an oral tube in her mouth to relieve the pressure and minimise the contractions.
Exam results showed that her pulmonary oxygen (PO2) was low and the Xray plates showed infiltrates. They began to lean towards the possibility that Jahara might have a heart condition (Congenital Heart Disease). There were no pedia cardiologist on the hospital so Jahara had to be transferred from Tarlac to Angeles City for the 2D Echo (heart ultrasound).
August 26, at around 2-3 am, Jahara's whole body turned blue and her PO2 became lower. She is currently incubated for temperature monitoring and connected to ventilators (tubes) to assist in her breathing. Doctors are waiting for her condition to stabilise before they can decide on the 2D Echo.
The hospital now requires an initial deposit of PHP 50,000. Estimated charge of per day stay is 20k-30k. The family is just waiting for Jahara's condition to stabilise and for the 2D Echo to be performed so they would know the next steps that Jahara should undertake for her recovery.
BABY JAHARA IS FIGHTING. LET US HELP HER WIN. ANY HELP IS APPRECIATED.
