Help Pastor Romy Sando’s family for his funeral and hospital expenses

Why can life be so hard sometimes? How can a simple wound and fever lead to an untimely death? How can you grasp the reality that your husband and your father is no longer with you, when you didn’t even had the chance to say goodbye because he just went into coma so soon?

Pastor Romy (56), Senior Pastor of All Praise is Yours Ministry Inc. in Cebu City, Philippines, is survived by his wife and my cousin, Wilma Genon-Sando (46) and his son Amos Gabriel Sando (18). He died on Aug. 14 after 7 gruelling hospital days of battling Sepsis that lead to surgery, I.C.U, dialysis and the very expensive medications. The biggest burden, however, for Pastor Romy’s family is the remaining hospital bill that need to be settled amounting to Php 651,000 or around $12,000. The total bill was roughly Php 971,000 and family and friends have already contributed Php 354,000 while Philhealth covered only Php 33,000 which left a balance of Php 651,000 to be paid. If not for an influential person who helped the family secure promissory note, the hospital would have not released the body of Pastor Romy to his family unless they settled their account!

How can they deserve this harsh realities when they have done nothing wrong but instead, have dedicated their lives to be an instrument of God’s love to others? Pastor Romy, with his Master’s Degree in Theology, founded a local church in Cebu in 1991 and was an active leader in the community through his outreach programs involving children and parents. He was greatly involved with the joint program of the Department of Education and Philippine National Police in educating the teachers and policemen under the Moral Recovery Program.Aside from being the senior pastor of his church – All Praise is Yours Ministry, Inc., he was also the auditor of the Cebu City Ministerial Fellowship.

As a mother, who lost her 20 year old daughter due to car accident and never had the opportunity to bid farewell, no words can describe the pain but the love of the family, friends, and community sustained us.
