A New Turn with Chuy and Juanita

We met with Chuy yesterday, Sept, 3, and he gave us an update on their recovery issues. Their surgeon had told them all was well, but neglected to give them recovery instructions. Earlier yesterday they met with a different surgeon for a follow-up exam.

Juanita still has significant pain in her coccyx. She was advised to take it easy and reduce her activities so her coccyx can heal over time…many more weeks. Chuy had returned to some light work not involving his left arm, but the doctor didn’t like what his x-ray showed and advised him to undertake no work so his arm can heal properly. Although he may act and look like the Chuy we know, he still tires easily and listens to his body and rests when he does tire. They are both following doctor’s orders to the T. But there’s a long way to go.

As of today our campaign to raise money for them to purchase another used truck is at 57% of our $9,000 goal. This campaign has been fortunate to have some generous donations from a number of people. If you’ve thought of making a donation, of any amount, please do so before the end date of Sept. 15. They need this truck and the more we raise the better the vehicle they can afford.

As Chuy was leaving today he expressly asked us to thank everyone who has made a contribution to them and to those who are offering their thoughts and prayers for them. They are truly appreciative of their benefactors during this difficult time.
