In the current heroin epidemic, we are losing a lot of amazing people. Many amazing parents leaving behind their children. As a result, many grandparents are taking on the role of the parent now.

Our mission is to support the grandparent who is stepping in as the parent. Many of times, the grandparent is not in a position to raise another child. We step in and help the children with education programs, after-school programs and tuition, sports and extracurricular activities, and mentor programs.

Make a small donation to support our fundraiser. The children do not deserve to suffer any more than they already have and your help will immediately impact them.

We really need your help. We are currently fundraising to make sure the children have essentials for the new school year. The child deserves to walk in with confidence on the first day. These kids have been through a lot already, with your donation it will prove to them that we are here for them.

If you would like to learn more about the epidemic, check out this video on NBC. This is exactly why we launched our fundraiser. For the grandparents taking on the role of parenting. For the child who lost a parent.

Here is why we launched our mission:

Statistics of one county in Southwestern PA:

  • In 2017 we had 671 opioid induced overdoses in Allegheny County
  • In 2016, 598 total lives lost to overdose in Allegheny County
  • 74% of the deaths are between the ages of 25-50 years old
  • In Pennsylvania, over 5,500 died from overdoses in 2017. This is more than any year on record and continues the year-over-year trend of record overdose deaths

How many of the 1,269 lost left behind a child? We are asking for any level of donation support. Each dollar that is given will directly impact the child's life immediately and help Youth Foundry grow its efforts to help more.

Your immediate donation will be supporting August's efforts to help the children get prepared for the new school year. Every child deserves an education and deserves to be prepared for that education. Your donation will help us make that a reality.

Rewards

Upon receipt of a donation we will be sending out our foundation's t-shirt so you may wear and show support for all the children who lost a parent

Update posted by Kenneth Craig at 08:46 pm

This video is a perfect explanation to why we launched this fundraiser. For these children who lost their parent, but also to provide some relief to the grandparent who is not able to provide for the child.
