Campaign Story
Join me on my journey to train and take part in the upcoming Ironman 70.3 Bintan race in Indonesia on 19 August! The race will take me around the exotic island of Bintan in Indonesia with a 1.9km swim, 90km bike ride and 21.1km run - definitely a bit of a challenge for me!
The race combines my passion for cycling and running (and a swim I could do without) in Asia, where I have spent most of my life. Asia has given me and my family so much over the past 30+ years, wonderful experiences and a good life. Not everyone in this amazing part of the world has been as fortunate as us though, and when I recently became aware of the life changing work the non-profit EMpower is doing for young people in emerging market countries such as Indonesia (and many others) I wanted to contribute to this cause and dedicate fundraising efforts for this race to EMpower. Find out more about EMpower here: www.empowerweb.org
By making a donation you can help to empower at-risk youth in emerging market countries, so they can make their hopes and dreams a reality. The money will be used to build better lives through programs on education, livelihoods, health & education. Any donation, no matter how small (or big) will be highly appreciated and will have a positive impact on the lives of young people. There is tremendous need but also tremendous opportunity, so please join me and let's make a difference. Thank you very much for your support.
I live in Singapore with my wife Akiko and two daughters Hana and Nina. You can follow my training progress on www.strava.com/athletes/oliver_otto, or follow me on:

Well done! It's great to stay active and empower the youth at the same time.
Words can't describe how it feels to cross that finish line
Update posted by Ailsa Cheung at 02:32 amIt was a long journey to get there and once there it felt so incredibly good. After months of training (loved it), eating healthy (not that hard), limiting my beer intake (very hard), trying not to catch anything in the final week (strange how all of a sudden I noticed. . . . .
