The murder rate in South Africa is presently around 50 per day, but if you are white and elderly your chance of being murdered grows a lot worse. After 24 years of "democracy" racial tension in South Africa is at its highest ever, and fear of civil war is growing rapidly. Promises from government that they would expropriate white property without compensation and give it to black people do not help much to control this tension.

The government however seem to be in denial as they do not share these beliefs, in spite of the country burning. An example is Trucks burning at the Mooi river toll plaza. Violent protests take place all over South Africa, and people are unsafe everywhere. During these protests it is not uncommon for black protesters to sing Kill the white men , which further charges racial hatred. Even white ANC supporters are not safe, as the recent murders of Rosalie Bloch, 84, and Aubrey Jackson, 94 testifies.

Any reasonable person would like to be safe, and if you are no longer safe in your country of birth to be able to emigrate. But not everybody has the means, as emigration is a costly and difficult process. Most white South Africans speak English, but it is very hard to get into English speaking countries as they have very strict rules on immigration. One of the easiest and most popular countries for South Africans to emigrate to however, is Paraguay in South America. The seasons and weather is very similar to that in South Africa, and there is very little preventing South Africans to move there. The main language in Paraguay however is Spanish, without which one cannot make a living there. You are also not allowed to work without permanent residence.

Our aim is to set up a type of halfway house in Paraguay, much like a backpacker's hostel, where South African emigrants can be received and housed, be provided with work and be taught Spanish. As soon as these people have residence permits and can speak the language they can then be integrated into the Paraguayan society and live peaceful and productive lives, without having to look over their shoulders constantly for fear of being robbed, raped or murdered. I am willing to sell everything I own to set up and run such a halfway house, but I know it would not be nearly enough. My wife and I currently run a restaurant from rented premises, even though we're not young, after losing our own house some time ago after the economy in South Africa took a nose dive. I am 63 years old and my wife 49. We would be willing to uproot and take on the unknown if it can help our fellow citizens in need.

Please support our cause and help us make this possible. In return we would like to select random contributors to visit the center and provide them with accommodation, once up and running, as an opportunity to visit Paraguay and experience life there first hand.

Para nuestros amigos que hablan español

Update posted by Johan Smal at 12:11 pm
