Who Am I?

My name is Canace Morgan and I am passionate about missions, the performing arts and helping young people to grow in the Christian faith.

I am a kindergarten teacher and have been a volunteer counsellor at Inter-School Christian Fellowship camps in Jamaica for the past 5 years. When I became a Christian, I dreamed of using my love of dance and theatre to help young people to grow in their faith. That dream led me to study for a Bachelor of Arts degree in Dance and Psychology at Mount Holyoke College, Massachusetts. Since then I have danced with Praise Academy of Dance Jamaica, counselled at several camps and spoke with youth and church groups. But I have not yet explored how dance and missions/discipleship, go together.

At the end of September 2018, I will be joining Youth with a Mission (YWAM) at their school in Nuremberg, Germany to explore the intersectionality of missions and the arts in their Marriage of the Arts (MOTA) programme. What is YWAM, MOTA and what will I be doing?
YWAM is a non-profit organization dedicated to training up Christian missionaries and then sending them out to other nations to serve. The MOTA programme is designed to help artists see how their art can be used in missions. There I will learn how to use my artistic gifts for God’s kingdom in worship, missions and discipleship. I will then set out to share what I’ve learnt on a 10-week mission trip in a country the team prayerfully chooses. This will give us the opportunity to be the hands and feet of Jesus as we give Him our talents to use for His glory and plan of redemption

Why Go?
I truly believe dance is a powerful tool that can be used in not just communicating the gospel but deepening our relationship with God and I look forward to learning and practising how it can be used for that.

I also intend to acquire wisdom on using my talents and skills for future ministry opportunities.

Where and when?Nuremberg, Germany and the Middle Eastern Region (September 2018-February 2019)

How can I support this dream?

• First, I ask for prayer in both preparing for this journey and my time there.

The cost of this venture is $7,000 USD and it will be broken down in the following ways:

Accommodation/ Room and Board:
$1,900 USD (includes housing and meals for 3 months)

Outreach Cost:
$3,100 USD (includes roundtrip flight from Nuremberg to outreach destination, housing and meals)

Health Insurance, Immunization and Travel expenses: $2,000

The figure seems big but with your help, it is possible. Please keep in mind that every donation, no matter how big or small, counts and can go a long way!
