Hi, Everyone. ๐Ÿ‘‹

We would like to express our heartfelt gratitude for your time in reading this that contains the story of our brave little warrior whoโ€™s fighting against an aggressive type of leukemia. ๐Ÿ’–๐Ÿ’•

His name is Nathan Villamil Pintor. ๐Ÿ‘ฆ He is one (1) year and four (4) months old and was born on November 21, 2016 via cesarean section in Negros Oriental Provincial Hospital (NOPH). He was known to be a healthy baby boy. ๐Ÿ‘ฆ

March 6, 2018: After three (3) days of on and off fever, Nathan was brought in Holy Child Hospital for a check-up. The CBC (Complete Blood Count) result they had then shows his platelet decreased a lot. He was admitted under the impression that it was a dengue fever.

March 13, 2018: After being admitted for seven (7) days, his condition did not improve and the Pediatrics Doctor noticed abnormalities is his blood test results. They were referred to an Oncologist which is a resident Doctor of Silliman University Medical Center.

March 16, 2018: We learned through a specific blood test that Nathan has leukemia. The Doctor gave us the things we have to know and expect with his condition. The Doctor hoped that it was ALL (Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia or Acute Lymphocytic Leukemia).

March 17, 2018: A test called Bone Marrow Aspiration and Biopsy was conducted to Nathan. This type of test is the removal of bone marrow and blood by inserting a hollow needle into the hipbone or breastbone. Nathan got a dose of anesthesia to conduct this test successfully.

March 21, 2018: Came the result and it confirmed, and dismayed every one of us including the Doctor, that Nathan has AML (Acute Myeloid Leukemia). It is a cancer of the blood and bone marrow. It usually gets worse quickly if it is not treated. AML is also called Acute Myelogenous Leukemia, Acute Myeloblastic Leukemia, Acute Granulocytic Leukemia and Acute Non-Lymphocytic Leukemia. We were saddened to have been informed that this type of leukemia has 60% chance of cure.

March 22-28, 2018: Nathan was admitted in Silliman University Medical Center to start the chemotherapy. He was transfused with half bag of whole blood and a full unit of platelet. Nathan had four (4) sessions of chemotherapy. Since Nathan was responding well to the chemotherapy, he was discharged and sent home. On his last day in the hospital, a mouth sore is slowly breaking out from his lower lip.

On March 29, 2018: Nathan is starting to have a fever. From low grade to high fever, it comes and go and the mouth sore grew bigger, making it difficult for him to eat or drink even his milk. Nathan is losing the appetite.

April 2, 2018: Nathan returned to the hospital to have a blood test. At noon time, we got the result and found out that his platelet dropped rapidly at 8 T/cumm. He was urgently admitted for a platelet transfusion. With the help of very kind people, we received two (2) units of whole blood and harvested the platelet from it.

April 3, 2018: The two (2) units of platelet was transfused. Nathan keeps on having a high fever periodically. At the end of the day, Nathanโ€™s platelet count went from 8 to 144 T/cumm.

April 4, 2018: Nathan had a diarrhea. A stool exam was made and confirmed that he has amoeba infection. Apart from that, we have also noticed that a tooth broke out from his right premolar while the left side is showing that another tooth will be out soon.

As of this writing, Nathan is still having high fever. He eats a little, but refused to drink his milk sometimes. He is still very difficult at drinking water and most importantly, he still loves to eat bread.

We are knocking in your kind hearts to help us with our little warriorโ€™s battle against AML.

We humbly ask for you to pray with us that he would survive and win over this dreadful illness.

With this unexpected turn of events, we do not have enough funds to support his hospital bills and medical treatment; thus, we would like to ask for your financial support.

We would appreciate any amount. Thank you very much.
