Just over 2 years ago tragedy struck the Nqweniso family in the small rural town of Peddie in Nqgushwa district, Eastern Cape. The three children: Zibuko, Namgamso, and Msimelelo experienced the deep trauma of losing their mother, who was killed by her husband in the family house. He is now in prison. The youngsters were and are without means.

Peddie suffers from high unemployment, poor schooling, and serious health problems like HIV and Aids and widespread malnutrition. Many unemployed youth also struggle with drug and alcohol issues, and dysfunctional families are home to child abuse. With this background the Peddie Family Resource Centre tries to support the young people as they attempt to have a fresh start.

Zibuko needs R300 a month for a room and needs R700 a month to cover food and toiletries as well as R300 a month for stationary and books and transport to see his brother and sister.

Namgomso lives in the home of one of the Family Resource Centre care givers, who is devoted to her but has little money. A monthly allowance of at least R700 to cover her meals, toiletries and clothing needs as well as R250 a month for school transport would make a huge difference.

The youngest child, now 12, is living with a relative and should be due for a foster or child grant. As he is not in immediate risk, we are focusing on the two older siblings

This is the moment to help. With this support they can be funded for 2 years and then become self-sufficient. Will you help take this young family away from tragedy to hope?
