LOVE for KIAN – Fund raising for Kian Alfred Esguerra’s medications

KIAN ALFRED ESGUERRA, 9 years old, a very sweet, smart, caring, charming and a loving boy. A young boy filled with dreams, and is excellent in school. He is the youngest child and only son to our dear and beloved cousins ALFREDO ESGUERRA and CATHY AGAPITO.

He was admitted to the hospital last Feb. 11, 2018 and after a series of lab test, particularly a bone marrow biopsy, yesterday, Feb. 13, 2018, he was diagnosed with an impression of Acute Leukemia.

The news was horrible for the family. And it is painful to see our loving "pamangkin" suffering from that kind of illness that he never wished for. In addition, the family has a limited financial resources for this unexpected and significant medical expenses. That is why in behalf of the family, we would like to knock on your hearts for financial assistance or whatever means you can provide to help Kian. He is very dear to us especially to his parents and we are doing all means to help reduce the burden of financial difficulties the family is facing right now.

CLINICAL SUMMARY (from the Hospital)

COURSE DURING CONFINEMENT (WHICH INCLUDES RESPONSE TO THERAPY, OCCURENCE OF COMPLICATIONS, REASONS FOR CHANGES IN DIAGNOSIS)

Upon admission, he was venoclysed and the following were requested: complete blood count with platelet count, liver enzymes, prothrombin time and activated partial thromboplastin time, clotting time and bleeding time. He was referred to the service of pediatric hematologist who requested for the following: hepatitis profile, total bilirubin and peripheral blood smear.

On the first hospital day, he was noted to be pale but with good appetite and with no complaints of abdominal pain and joint pain. Repeat complete blood count with platelet count and blood culture and sensitivity test was done. He was subsequently scheduled for bone marrow biopsy the following day and started on ampicillin-sulbactam.

On the second hospital day, he underwent bone marrow aspiration biopsy under anesthesia. Adequate bone marrow aspirate was obtained and was sent for basic leukemia screen by flow cytometry. Currently, patient is still admitted, more than twenty four hours afebrile, on day one of ampicillin-sulbactam, with good appetite, good oral fluid intake, with no difficulty of breathing and no joint pain.

IMPRESSION: To consider Acute Leukemia, status pot bone marrow aspiration (2/13/2018)
