Aly’s Spine Surgery

This is Aly.

Badea Alexandru Constantin is 24 years old and lives in Bucharest, Romania.

On the morning of January 4, 2016, he was involved in a road accident on the national road DN73A between the Paraul Rece and Rasnov localities, not driving the car, and he was left with a vertebro-medullary trauma at the T2-T4 level.

For the sake of all, he lost all his feelings apart from certain sensations of pain, burns, tingling, numbness and the ability to move any part of the body from the chest down.

After the accident he was hospitalized at the Bagdasar Arseni Hospital where he stayed for two months and three weeks. After the investigations, the doctors decided that he did not need surgery and any improvement of the disease would only take it through a lot of recovery that involves physical therapy and physiotherapy, which he also did after discharge, two or three weeks a month in different recovery hospitals.

After 8 months he redid an MRI to see in what state he is. He received the worst news, the fracture has increased and the marrow is almost completely cut. It was then when he realized he needed surgery, so he started knocking on the hospitals doors in Bucharest and send documents through the country to get into surgery but everywhere he went he received the same answer, "We won't do it because the surgery will make only more harm than good and you don't have any chance of healing anyway."

After these attempts, he realized that he had to go outside the country to see if he had any chance of healing or not.
On June 9, 2017 he arrived in Germany, Frankurt at the BGU clinic for a consultation, and doctors there were shocked that he was not operated until then.

According to their words, the operation is absolutely necessary because a cyst at the T1 level has been formed and the stability of the fracture is uncertain. The doctors have advised him to reduce the recovery to a minimum if he wants to save what is left of the marrow.

But the operation costs about 25,000 euros, the amount of money that he can not even dream of only from the state's help.

I think you can also imagine how a man with special needs lives in a country like Romania where you live from day to day, even when you are healthy.
